Sanity -> RE: Left Wingers Losing Their Seats? (1/17/2010 11:10:52 AM)

Here's a video clip from ABC's "This Week." Its an excellent bipartisan analysis of why Obamais being forced to go down to Massachusetts to try to save Croakly's skin (along with his own agenda). Pay special attention in the video when a 5:35 this little exchange occurs:

KATRINA VANDEN HEUVEL, THE NATION: But George, seriously, the messaging out of the White House is clicking into gear. The idea of a responsibility tax on these banks which have cost people jobs, homes. I think it's a test for the Teabaggers moving forward, too. Which side are they on? Are they on the side of the people as they claim? Or are they on...
TUCKER CARLSON, THE DAILY CALLER: Katrina, will you stop with the Teabaggers thing? I mean, what is a Teabagger? That's such a stupid, I mean, come on.

I'm pleasantly surprised to learn that pro-life people are such a powerful force down in Liberal Massachusetts.

Dems look at bypassing Senate health care vote

[image]http://l.yimg.com/a/i/us/nws/p/ap_logo_106.png[/image]

BOSTON – A panicky White House and Democratic allies scrambled Sunday for a plan to salvage their hard-fought health care package in case a Republican wins Tuesday's Senate race in Massachusetts, which would enable the GOP to block further Senate action.

The likeliest scenario would require persuading House Democrats to accept a bill the Senate passed last month, despite their objections to several parts.

Aides consulted Sunday amid fears that Republican Scott Brown will defeat Democrat Martha Coakley in the special election to fill the late Edward M. Kennedy's seat. A Brown win would give the GOP 41 Senate votes, enough to filibuster and block final passage of the House-Senate compromise on health care now being crafted.

One day to go, Brown is up by nine.

How bout them Vikes, hah?

Sanity -> RE: Left Wingers Losing Their Seats? (1/18/2010 2:06:46 PM)

Scott Brown could be our next president. He's young, likable, charismatic. Gives a good speech, he makes the ladies' panties wet with just a smile...

And heck. Two years as a junior senator is more than enough experience for the top job. Am I right?

mnottertail -> RE: Left Wingers Losing Their Seats? (1/18/2010 2:13:09 PM)

Voted NO on Defeating corporate tax disclosure. (May 2003)
Voted YES on Extending corporate tax credit 5 years. (May 2003)

And many other issues with no stance whatsoever. Hes just another nothing. But yeah, he meets constitutional requirements, so he can run if he wants.

Ron

Oh God, Rep. Patrick "Patches" Kennedy (D. R.I.) called Martha Coakley "Marsha Coakley." "Marsha! Marsha! Marsha!"
Maybe he didn't want to get close to using the name "Martha" as in,....."Martha Moxley" another Kennedy victim dispatched by a 6 iron?
And Horseface Kerry said; "Scott Brown's rallys are reminisient of the *dangerous* atmosphere of Sarah Palin's rallys." I wonder if he means "dangerous" like "Jen-Jis Khan?"
I mean, how does one even reply to such idiocy?
Hey, isn't John "French" Kerry up for re-election in,.....November of this year?

I have to ask what you think on this, Sanity.  If Brown wins, and it really looks like he might, will the Dems be foolish enough to rush the healthcare package through before he gets a chance to block it?

Tom and Rich, here's my call, and I stand by it. NOBODY is that stupid, are they?

The Hyannis times and the mayor of Quincy, Mass a *Democrat* today endorsed Scott Brown.
Howie Carr just announced it on his show! OUCH! That has to hurt! "Marsha! Marsha! Marsha!"

Sanity -> RE: Left Wingers Losing Their Seats? (1/18/2010 3:01:29 PM)

To me, the Dems seem like they're hell bent on accomplishing a suicide mission here, even if it costs them everything. They're even discussing a possible rules change to do away with the filibuster.

They're getting some real bad advice from somewhere.

I dunno, Ron, but I have a level of respect for your insight.  They do have a serious testerone deficiency working against them.  The problem is, it's just as much about President Obama having SOMETHING to claim as an accomplishment when he goes to Congress with his very first State of the Union address in a few weeks.  What's he going to say otherwise?  That he had a few teachable moments?  Learned a lot?  That he thinks he's starting to get a feel for the job and how Washington works?

My feeling is that they are just way too invested in this to let it go.  Might be moot.  The only poll that matters from Mass. is the one they'll take tomorrow.

TheHeretic -> RE: Left Wingers Losing Their Seats? (1/18/2010 4:07:29 PM)

And the date has been announced for that very speech.  Wednesday, January 27 at 9:00 p.m.

Anybody want to get a pool going on how many times President Obama will reference both himself and that he inherited all of his problems?

servantforuse -> RE: Left Wingers Losing Their Seats? (1/18/2010 4:30:01 PM)

I think it was because he didn't want to remind the voters of Marthas Vineyard..

Ron, maybe a good call on that. If brown wins tommorrow and it looks like he will that'll throw a monkey wrench into things in D.C. Also, I think Kerry is up in November too and that'll be fun to watch! He really is a stuffed shirt and a boor.
Brown did say that we should re-examine the healthcare issue and to be honest I'm really not that well informed on that as it would require more reading than I did on "global warming" over the last six years or so .
It's incredably complicated and for sure there'll be people who aren't happy with whatever comes out of it.
As I've said before just give everyone the same plan as our congress has!
