ORIGINAL: sappatoti I was either totally ignored or hated and despised. My words were not good enough. Every question I had was met with contempt and total disgust. I sucked it up. I chose my words carefully and wrote them out in complete sentences with much thought given to clarity so as not to cause confusion. After I submitted that... my very first post... the hatred faded away. Sappa - Is this true? In the interest of fairness, I've never experienced you in any way except full of intellect and creativity. I enjoy your posts immensely. Since my own experience was somewhat similar to yours (as you describe it), I wonder if we are tough here? Maybe we are hard on newbies... hmmmm. It is true to some extent, just not here on CollarMe. My initial experience into the online message boards was back in the FidoNet BBS days. If you're not familiar with that, think of this message board done through email instead of logging in and posting. I found groups that were of interest to me, composed my messages, packaged them up in the digital form bundles, and uploaded them to my neighborhood host system. Apparently my messages were flamed right from the get-go, but instead of only having to endure it for a day or two (like here), the flames kept coming for a couple of weeks as these messages were transmitted from system to system via dial-up modem. My charred skin learned to thicken up very quickly. Back to the point of this board, I've not had any problems. I lurked for many months to learn the ebb and flow of how discussions worked as well as becoming familiar with the personalities of the regular contributors. Once I felt comfortable enough with how people responded to various types of posts I joined in, careful not to make the same posting mistakes that the unfortunates did by just jumping in as soon as they got here.
