Sanity -> RE: Rush Drawing fire for his haitian comments (1/16/2010 7:33:54 AM)

So the one hundred million (minimum) that Obama has pledged to Haiti is coming from his own pocket??? Thats good news tazzy girl! I guess I should take back some of the things I said about his policies since thats the case.

The UN asked for 550 million dollars. So far, pledges of 400 million have been recorded, including the 100 million from the US. Countries and private citizens are donating. Get over it, Sanity. The IRS doesnt have a stake in this.

I was going to put this in an edit... changed my mind

I have lived through more than one earthquake... I have never felt a "big one"... although I went to the aid of family after the quake of 89. I did feel aftershocks, and that was pretty scary. We are prepared for something like this in California, but if it were big enough, it wouldn't matter what the prep was. I suppose this gives me some empathy... because my life experience was that we had "duck and cover" drills for earthquakes all throughout my school years. We also prepared for this in my home. I cannot convey what living through a small earthquake is like even though it is short lived, because you do not know what will happen when it is happening... how long will it last? How big will it be? Because when it happens you think if it is the Big One you just maybe fucked... like those people in Haiti are today

tazzygirl -> RE: Rush Drawing fire for his haitian comments (1/16/2010 7:37:46 AM)

There is a HUGE difference between invading and being invited. Do you honestly think these people are upset by our presence? The US, UN and other countries have already said the main political force in Haiti is... their own.

Thanks, you're a real piece of work too.

The shock and awe was for Saddam and his loyal forces who were terrorizing all of Iraq, and I'm sure the machete-wielding gangs that are dominating the streets of Port-Au-Prince will face a scaled down version of that.

But we are in fact invading Haiti, just like we invaded Iraq. But because its a Democrat president who is doing it its all right to cheer julia, for we are the good guys once again, aren't we.

And the left bitched to the heavens loud and long about every dime that was spent helping the people of Iraq, and they've now convinced me that everyone in the world hates the United States and that China is the greatest thing since the invention of the windmill, so I say let China and Denmark save Haiti.

You do see the difference between Shock and Awe bombing the shit out of people and then going in to "save them" and using one of the few existing institutions that can be mobilized to distribute aid... which the US military is the only institution we have that can do this because that is where we sunk all our fucking tax money!

Here you are bitching about the debt when our military is our biggest expense, and the second we want to do something with them that isn't destructive you get all bent out of shape about that too... you are a real piece of work

Sanity -> RE: Rush Drawing fire for his haitian comments (1/16/2010 7:38:49 AM)

And the whole world hates us for it, remember? And its China's turn to lead. We're a has been, we're broke. We're through...

At least, thats what the American Left and their socialist buddies up in Canada and overseas keep telling us.

Since America's been one of the first responders in most any humanitarian effort, I guess you don't realize that the IRS has been taking "donations" from our great grand kids for a helluva long time now.  Way, way, way before Obama became elected as president.

The world does not hate us for aiding people in humanitarian crisis... they hate us for parking our military all over the world and acting as though we own the joint.

Nope, and your deliberately baiting and being obtuse this morning. The IRS has no part in gathering this money, or threatening anyone at this point. If im not mistaken, this was an EO to donate 100 million dollars. Oddly enough, no one complained when other presidents gave away far more with a stroke of a pen, and some for the same purpose as Haiti.

I asked before, and i ask again. name me one president who ever said no in this kind of stituation. Bet you cant.

Sanity -> RE: Rush Drawing fire for his haitian comments (1/16/2010 7:43:08 AM)

Where do you think the one hundred million dollars "minimum" is going to come from, if not taxes.

tazzygirl -> RE: Rush Drawing fire for his haitian comments (1/16/2010 7:45:01 AM)

Exactly from taxes. And again, i see no threats from the IRS.

Sanity -> RE: Rush Drawing fire for his haitian comments (1/16/2010 7:45:03 AM)

Thats exactly what Obama's doing in Haiti right now. But again, thats okay because he's a Democrat.

No Sanity, you do love your world dont you. We are there as a peace keeping mission. These people need safety in a world that is literally falling down around them. They need order in all that chaos. The local government cannot provide that at this time. The US is NOT the only government there.

Sanity -> RE: Rush Drawing fire for his haitian comments (1/16/2010 7:50:52 AM)

Come on taz, you're not really that "obtuse" are you? Try refusing to pay some time... or go online and do some research. The IRS collects, and they don't take no for an answer. It makes no difference if its the mob or the government doing it to you, when they come to collect their dues. They don't politely put the handcuffs on you, the cell mates aren't nice as they rape you. Its all a very violent experience (so its best if you just give "Vinnie" what you owe, if youse gets my drift there).

No, we haven't always been the world's piggy bank to smash, whenever they can't take care of themselves.

Do your own research...

tazzygirl -> RE: Rush Drawing fire for his haitian comments (1/16/2010 7:57:25 AM)

I have, and could not find one. Yet here you are bashing Obama over this. Maybe you need to do some research of your own before inserting foot against a man you obvious hate no matter what he does.

So, essentially you are all for the enlightenment and wondrous freedoms we brought to Iraq that poor country who was bedeviled by a man made force, and you are deploring then, that we are not doing enough in Haiti, providing for their enlightenment and wondrous freedoms, a country bedeviled by a natural force, is that what you are arguing?

Because if you are then its consistent. (whether right or wrong).

If not, then you are manufacturing a purely partisan and rather imbicilic line of bullshit and no matter how you squirm thru the rhetoric, it aint able to stand as truth or reason.

You caught me. I am indeed playing Devil's Advocate.

But its for a good cause, some of these people don't know how to think about these things. Why is it that helping Iraq was the worst kind of evil, while helping Haiti is the best kind of good.

We did not "help" Iraq... we invaded it.... geesh

I don't know, Sanity.  I haven't heard any liberals say that, nor Canadians.  In fact, you're the only one who's put it quite like that.  Is that what you truly believe, Sanity?  No wonder you're such an angry man.

Sanity -> RE: Rush Drawing fire for his haitian comments (1/16/2010 8:12:36 AM)

I have clearly demonstrated that we are invading Haiti julia, in this post:

We give humanitarian aid anyway.
We have a long established history of giving humanitarian aid.
This is not new.

Sanity, I am just not sure why you don't see that we have a moral mandate to help.
Is it that you have a belief that because these people are so poverty-stricken, that they do are not worthy of help?
That they deserve to die simply because they live in a very poor country?

I am surprised that you lack an understanding of something very basic:
It would not have mattered who was president this week. Aid would have been given.

You may believe that President Obama has a politically driven motive.
Which is the lesser of two evils?
Giving aid or withholding it simply to make a point?

Edit: spelling/grammar
