This is my first post ever on CM but I felt I must write now. I am really bad in politics and I never been to the US, so I don't know much about what and how is going on there and how does that feel to the people living there. What I feel though is that most of you never lived in socialism, nor in communism. I did. And I do live in an ex-socialist Country, I am the citizen of an ex-socialist Country. cuckoldmepls! The theory of taking from the rich to give it to the poor has nothing to do with socialism, nor communism. That is the story of Robin Hood! In real socialism one basic rule was: who is not working, shouldn't eat either! Stella41b was the closest to reality!

I think its a left over conservation of the McCarthy ramblings, plus the cold war.Education can solve a lot of problems but when its ingrained in parents grandparents family etc and seen as scary, it s hard to get rid of. Ignorance is no excuse, but it suits the conservative, libertarians and repubs to keep the scare tactics going. Such as denying any republican health care, deathpanels and pulling the plug on granny etc ad nauseum They cant handle the truth:)

Great first post LP! Sorry to say though that you, and the rest of us, are wasting time and energy with this guy. He is absolutely, irreconcilably, irrevocably, even psychotically - obsessed with two related ideas; the first that Obama is a socialist and the second that socialism is the greatest evil that could ever be visited on a people. And this with quite obviously not a wit of a clue as to what socialism is, what it does and what a socialist looks like. E

A bigger question. I believe that some might say I have been known to hang to the left. Why is it that the majority of the time that I see complete bullshit, baldfaced lies posted or sent via email that the majority of this shit tends to come form "conservatives?" Why is it that far too often that this group of people will accept anything they read if it supports some form of a right position? What is even worse is that they seem to have no problem attaching their names to it and forwarding it on to others. The truth be damned. Whether it be about global warming, the evil of the Prius, Obama's birth certificate, how Cindy Sheehan never raised her son and on and on and fucking on and on and on. To quote Joseph Welch, "have you left no sense of decency?"

Its just been reported on UK Channel4 news that he's taking action against the US banks to stop them repeating their mistakes of late - no more business as usual, apparently, with banks broken up and their powers limited such that the taxpayer should not have to be called on again to prop them up. E

The answer would be emotional egotism; truth for right wing idealogues is neither factual or empirical -- rather it is propaganda that serves the cause they believe in. How they feel about information governs their critical eye of it. Also, larger truths must be shielded from impeaching facts. Impeaching facts undermine the larger cause of the just, free market world of competitive meritocracy while paving the way to unwanted higher taxes.
