So we are still at bullshit plus evidence tampering.

Yes I overstated the cheapness of the property by saying city blocks, but there are houses there for sale by owner for $400 and $500, and there are some blocks in that city that are almost all for sale or condemned. So my original answer still stands. You can buy a house in Pontiac, and still have enough to buy a few more for under $100k.

My point was and is that anyone who has had a house for more than three years most likely paid quite a bit more than $100,000. On a side note, considering how cheap some of the houses are in Pontiac, what is the tax picture there? Here property tax is 1% of the purchase price of the house.

Oakland county and the municipalities are kind of wierd about their property taxes. I mean there is the usual based on estimated (fair market) value, square footage etc... but then you get add-ons depending on which district (school and other). So even with the dime a dozen properties, one could be looking at a hefty tax bill twice a year. Thanks for the clarification of the point you were trying to make, I misunderstood.

Here's what frustrates me about all your bickering: The original point? The "teacher shows why socialism fails by failing entire class" story? Debunked in 3 posts. And yet it's just going to pop back up again in a few weeks, because facts don't matter. We're not dealing with logic; we're dealing with human psychology. You can't fight that with facts. So why are you still trying to?

Nobody drug him in, though: he's here of his own free will and frankly, he deserves a lot worse than he gets given his taste for derailing threads. If keeping a pointless thread like this open stops him from trashing ones that are a bit more constructive, then I'm all for it. It keeps a lot of the blood, birdshit and feathers in here rather than elsewhere, dig?

What do you think the cheapest thing in Silver Lakes is going for at bankruptsy auction?[;)] Come to my suburb of Dayton and you'll find plenty of homes for $100,000. And that's not recent history - we didn't have a big boom here.
