1) First find your fuel - there are only 2 tugs and 2 tankers at the airport. 2) Second find your secured flat space, a lot of it's got people camping out 3) Improve the navaids, bring a generator for lights 4) Where are the heavy lifters coming from? There're some Navy/Marine ships on the way, but they aren't there yet. Osprey's are overseas. 5) You can't drive down the coast, the roads are clogged with people and debris. You'd also need a lot of freight-handling equipment at the port, suitable for major cargo handling, not off-loading of tourists. 6) Damn, Aneirin, wars are planned, Earthquakes aren't. quote:

ORIGINAL: Aneirin It still staggers me, it has been over a week since the disaster and the ball ain't quite rolling yet out there as regards providing aid to the needy. What happened to all this high tech equiptment the military are mean't have, these go anywhere vehicles that cost millions of whatever currency, what about the Chinooks and other heavy lift transport VTOL aircraft, they don't need much flat space to operate from, it is all taking too long, people are dying. No berths in the ports, well cruise liners are still managing to berth further down the coast, what's wrong with traveling a few miles to the affected areas, helicopters make short work of distance. If it was a theatre of war, do you think it would have taken this long to get the troops and hardware where they are needed. Or is it politics has it's hand in this. Thank you Aneirin, I have been saying the same thing since last Thursday! Why the hell is it taking so long for things to get rolling? They seem to be dropping food as they did in the situation in New Orleans. With all the countries "helping" and all the money that has already been raised, all the people/and troops that have been sent, what is the hold up?
