FR- I don't think it should be an "either/or" type of thing, but how much is "enough?" And with the current economy in this country, people are losing their jobs, their homes and their security as well. Are we wandering the streets in need of medical care? Yes, some are, but no it is not to the extent of Haiti. I think the point is that yes, Haiti is in desperate need of medical supplies and personnel. They are in desperate need of clean up crews to clear all the rubble away. As far as medical supplies go, I'm curious (because I haven't heard anything) are all the pharmaceutical companies sending any much needed drugs to Haiti? I mean really, morphine has been around forever, and is dirt cheap. The number of generic drugs that could be sent for a few million dollars is a pretty large amount. But when is it right to say "ok, we've helped you clear the rubble, bury your dead and done everything we can do medically, now it is time to stop." When will attention to the people living in poverty be given? Doing both is the best case scenario, but we can't be wholly responsible for rebuilding their country at the expense of our own.
