Thank you RedCatGoddess... It does make me feel better, I could not go to sleep because of the creepiness in here tonight... and that is the first time in 5 months that I have felt like this...

The power went out on one side of my apartment... so it could be emf gone wacko and my brain is reacting to it.... The storm could be causing trouble too..

I like Ryun in Paranormal State, such a cutie and I love that he cares... he either is very lucky and gets only cases that are paranormal or they pre-investigate and only film the ones that pan out though......  I love it when he tells things.  "I command thee to get out, in the name of god!!!"   I sometimes replace it with "I command the to get on your knees in the name of all things fun"....:

LOL!  Just imagine that sensation, ghostly entities performing acts or ora... uhm... yeah, so anyway, hi there!

Edit:  Ryan on his knees too for that matter.  I will agree with you there.  I can SO picture him with a collar around his neck, me holding the leash as he sits in front of me on the floor.  Yep, a cutie, to be sure.

Actually, if there's an electrical storm, that could be filling the air with all kinds of weird static and causing a lot of unrest.  Even a normal storm, with the sounds and the barometric changes going wacky can certainly wreak havoc with the senses.  Also causing changes in shadows and the like that the conscious mind doesn't even register, but the subconscious picks up on easily, creating what they refer to as a "funhouse effect".  The same things that cause one to feel uneasy and completely weirded out in places with uneven floors and stairs and crooked doorways and walls.  It's amazing what such insignificant changes will cause our minds to freak out on, whether we realize it or not.

They have that disclaimer at the beginning of the show that they only take on the most severe cases... so I think they pre investigate...but considering that they are not looking to debunk but to help people, at least most of the time, I think this is acceptable...

So BK, we will need a sort of nilla shirt for Julia to wear when her Boy is around.

I didn't get from your profile that you liked men... hmmmmm I am losing my touch... Can't say I blame you I love men...

I just saw an interview with my pretend boyfriend from the LA Kings... Raitis... :)

The perfect day, 10am wake, shower breakfast.  12 noon bondage fun, flogging, sex, cuddling.  4pm shower primp and shine.  6pm Kings game.  10pm hunt down some paranormal activity..... ;)

See, I have blonds in my family and I just had a blond moment.  BK when I read your profile I paid little attention to your basics... like orientation... LMAO.

I paid more attention to your blurb...  maybe it's getting to be bed time....

Well, it seems we've at least culled some of the unease.  Either that or terrified poor julia enough that the possible paranormal seems more acceptable than us. ;)

julia, I read EVP and thought "Engineering Vice President".

I prefer the thought (and visual) of you doing an Engineering VP to playing with some ghost.

I think you should get a grip
either make plans to move somewhere where the air is more friendly, or get over yourself and enjoy your home as it is, wash your windows, burn some incense, do some fengsui, sprinkle some holy water about and bake some buns

gost for crying out loud...
it is probably nothing more than a case of bored house pixies

julia,

Please let us know what happens if you go through with the experiment.  Prayers, meditation, candles and visualizations all work well for alleviating the creepy-being-watched feelings.

if it were anything intelligent, malicious and capable of harming you, it already would have.

otherwise, live with it or tell it to behave. assuming of course that there is anything there at all.

but then a great deal of the efficacy of exorcism is more about your personal psychology than the banishment of anything unwanted.

Julia, thanks for starting this post!  I had thought about something similar as I am having a "thing" going on in my apartment but was sure I'd be laughed off the boards.

I remember having an "aha" moment about 40 years ago when my father (who thinks all paranormal is just a load of crap) saw a full-bodied, solid, human apparition one day.  What he saw on a sunday afternoon was the figure of a woman coming out of our bathroom, wearing a robe and a towel around her head, she left the bathroom and headed toward the master bedroom.  Wondering why my mom was taking a bath in the middle of the day, my dad went to the bedroom to see if mom was feeling ill or something.  There was my mother, fully dressed, still with hair dry and styled, makeup on, just on the bed reading a book.  Obviously the woman from the bathroom was not my mother.

It then occurred to me that snippets of time could get caught in the natural electromagnetic force and simply play back from time to time, no differently than any magnetic recording device.  I still believe that probably 95% of "hauntings" are simply that.

I'm saying this because living in an old building is really cool but has its own problems when ghost-hunting.  There will still be some old wiring that is not well insulated that could be throwing out higher than usual electromagnetic energy and accounting for the "creepiness" factor.  Lathe and plaster walls conduct sound well so that it is really difficult to tell exactly where a particular sound is coming from.  You coul hear a sound that seems to be coming from a hallway and in fact it could really be originating from outside the building.  It's tricky.

DO the e.v.p.  Don't try to read into it.  Listen for distinct sounds, a hard T or B or K,  Geeeoooouuuuuu  could be translated to "get out" but could just as easily be wind over the microphone.  Start out by having a sincere desire to communicate and reach out to whatever spirit may be there.  If you get a message to "geT ouT"  I wouldn't be afraid of that.  We don't know what it's like to be on that side of things.  It may feel as uncomfortable to the spirits to have the living mucking about as it feels to us to have ghosts around.  They might think we are the creepy things.

The microphone should be shielded in a vacuum, this is the only way to determine if ghosts would like to be on American pop idol and practice in their spare time: “geeeoooouuuu esss cee ohh” They died in the 70’s so you have to consider their taste in music is rather dated.

Obviously the problem with your wind over the microphone argument is that the ghost could cause the wind over the microphone. Just depends how far you are willing to suspend your disbelief. Some people will always find irrational explanations for the most rational things. Also ghost hunting is good for business, that old hotel wasn't making nearly as much money as when they started to tell tales of the headless ghost walking the halls.

Wow.  Two pages of other people discussing ghost-hunting, spirits and evps and you attack me.  Wow.

SL43 is a Libra, he likes to wind people up especially when it comes to astrology and the supernatural  .

Eyesopened, I had a very similar experience to your dad's, so I know how spooky these things can get.

Ok Ok I confess I just skipped to the end and assumed all the spiritualists on the other page would be saying roughly the same.

My horoscope made me do it:

"Libra: Today you will say something unpopular that needs to be said about EVP. Although everyone may think you an arsehole they'll eventually realise you had their best interest at heart. In the love department today is not the day to be walking under ladders or breaking mirrors. Also ron may want you to estimate the weight of his car for tax purposes"

Carry on
