There is a valid argument for not wanting your name published.  One of the few things that a criminal can sell for more than it's face value are stolen guns. If your name is published everyone knows you own at least one gun. It could increase the chance of you being a victim of a burglary.
Which then put the gun in the hands of criminals.

So, let me try to follow this argument.

Someone has a gun to defend himself and the NRA tells us that those whose homes are armed are less likely to be the target of home invasions if criminals know guns are present.

But when it comes to publicly listing those who have guns the NRA tells us this is wrong because they will become targets of home invasions/burglaries by those who want to steal their guns.

I didn't say the NRA told you that. I said it was a valid reason. Not because I think guns are wrong, not because I would be embarrassed to own one. I live in Illinois. It is one of only 3 states that has no provision for concealed carry.

My point is, where is the benefit of publishing these names? Why weren't they published before the C.C. law was passed?

Why don't we publish the names of everyone who bought diamonds in the last year? Anyone familiar with the history of diamond mining and merchandising could call the whole business questionable.

The issue being that both aren't equally revolting.

That's the logic worth following.

"State Sen. R.C. Soles Jr. has been indicted in connection with an August shooting at Soles' Tabor City home."

The op is a douche who has no regard for the truth.

Why does this shit happen all of the time?

I'm not aware of the NRA recommending that people advertise their guns. The average burglar is looking for valuables, money, jewelry, electronics, with the intention of leaving the home with same in his possession. To find himself, instead, confronted by a homeowner with a gun in his hand makes for a very bad day. If it is known in advance that you have guns in the house, you are likely to attract a very different "clientele" with a different purpose.

Self-plagiarism DG???  On the same afternoon and same thread???  Maybe stand in front of a mirror, raise both arms, and see if something doesn't look right.

The sign is photoshopped, propagandistic and would be illegal if real.

I don't know that seems a lot like a first amendment thing to me. But I agree with your sentiment....I hate photoshop spam.

Long  time Anti-Gun  Advocate State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor  City, N.C. About 5 p.m. Sunday,  the  prosecutor for the politician's home county said.

The  victim, Kyle Blackburn, was taken to a South Carolina hospital, but the injuries  were not reported to be life-threatening, according to Rex Gore, district attorney for Columbus, Bladen and Brunswick counties..

THAT pisses me off more than anything else in this entire debacle.  The guy who broke into a person's house is the fucking VICTIM.  THAT makes me so sick.

*THAT* very point is poetic justice in this case.

Nope, I am going to buy more refigerators and freezers. Canned good have BPA in them, which is poison.

Only if they're plastic lined which i believe is only universal practice for acidic food items. Or in other words,
buy your tomato sauce in glass.

Yup, plus, for the same reason some NRA members will tell you not to use a NRA bumper sticker. You'll attract vandalism from leftist douche-bags.

That's one reason. One other reason is no conservative groups happen to be protected classes. Ie. Plenty of scumbag employers are out there that will fire employees that they discover own weapons. It's no one's damn business if you decide to exercise any right.

And i'm sorry you've distorted the NRA's message. In areas of the country/world where gun ownership is common confrontational crimes are a lower overall percentage of all crimes than area's where the citizens are reliably unarmed. Since a criminal does not know if a gun exists in a particular home or not, the people that don't own guns benefit from widespread citizen firearm ownership also. Hence, the last line of that sign. You're much more likely to suffer a home invasion in jolly old London, England than say Austin, Texas.

And, *duh*, if you're looking to steal a gun from a home, it would actually be useful to have a government tabulated list. Of course, non galatically stupid criminals will buy it on the black market, which will reduce their chances of getting shot at for the dubious privilege of gaining a firearm that in most cases will have it's serial number known by either it's owner or the gun store he bought it from.
