Would you say that there is a high percentage of people on here who have never had a real time encounter or done anything much in the way of real time, but have great imaginations?

If so, what are some things that make you think that when when you read a profile or a post?

now that you mention it

when submissive women talk about the dom they want they make him out to be a saint only interested in their welfare, totally self sacrificing , yuk puke

i'm a selfish son of a bitch more interested in me than her, and that's what she should want lol

Umm - wanting to be caged 24/7 would be my best indicator of cybergeek/bdsm person.

"No limits at all" Makes me think they either are in this for the fantasy or they really do not care about their own safety.

Yes, one would agree.   It's meeting in person when you find out all their "experience" has been online.  A waste of time and energy, then it's back to the ol' drawing board.

I have no way of knowing how much experience most CM folk have had. The ones I've met in person all seem to have had real-life experience.

For me it's emails.  They are willing to submit to anything and everything.  They send out spam to anyone and if honestly willing to meet in person, they have no regard for their safety.  They don't look to see if they are compatible, if the person is interested in the same things that they are.

When you talk to them, all they wanted to talk about was D/s they didn't want to know a thing about me, I could've been and axe murderer for all they knew.

As for profiles, they are usually blank or have literally a word or two and it's usually something inappropriate that refers to some "act" or body part.  The pics are of their privates, and not the artsy kind either.  If that's all they have to offer I'm not intersted.  One that kept popping up on my homepage at log in I just had to block...it was of his or someone's foot with needles all through the toes and foot , another all bent over, cheeks spread, that's all they are about I guess.

one liner cmails refferring to me as 'slave' and saying they like my pic/profile and believe im the right slave for them. i just roll my eyes. its cyber - they havent yet sussed out how much more there is to it all, which invariably tells me that they havent yet met anyone or had any sort of Ds or Ms relationship.

The main thing that makes me think that a person doesn't have any real-time experience is when they say things or ask for things that just don't work in the real world.  For example, they might say something like this:

"I'm really into bondage, and I'm looking for a Mistress who will tie me up and suspend me by my penis".

i've seen plenty of suspension play, but that fantasy would also lead to an unexpected sex change.

Some give themselves away at times that they are new at BDSM. Like at a chatroom here a couple of years ago. A new sub put down TV in his handle because he liked watching Television! OOPPSSSs was a lot of fun for others in the room at the time to tell him what TV really stood for!!

There is likely a difference between folks who have not had real time and folks who have not had real time. Because one has not had real time does not necessarily indicate a loonie cyber type.

There are folks who have had real time and act nutsoid let us not forget. People with no boundaries and the like can come from any point on the experience scale can they not?

Another one of those strange, undefined, questions. What is "a high percentage"? 12%? 32.4%? 98%? Without quantifying what you are after, this isn't a question that can be answered meaningfully. Especially since there isn't anybody who knows. Are you asking us to conjecture? To make a wild guess? You are not sharing the reason for your question - do you have your own view? Do you not have your own view, but need ours to form one?

ForeverOwned, I think you're quite right on that, that many here have not taken things to "real time".  I don't know how large of a majority, percentage wise, but if I were to hazard a guess at what I've observed, I'd probably say it's closer than one may think, perhaps 60/40.  Before this site though, I'd wager that the numbers would be closer to 75/25.  CM seems to have given a good number of people their first starts in a real life environment for such relationships.

Also, if I may say so, welcome to CM, I'm really enjoying your topics so far, they're serious and insightful without being drudgery. :)  It's a pleasure to pop into your threads and see what's going on.

I am only referring to my experience and my experiences only.   These are those that I have taken the time to talk to, and after not much conversation at all they admit that they don't have experience real time, they put it in their profile because they figured they wouldn't get picked otherwise.  What I stated is what they have in common.

I don't recall calling anyone loonie or nutsoid

Yes, I think that's the nature of the BDSM world.  Most of the people here have never had a real BDSM experience.  Of those that have, a lot have probably had a Pro Session but have never had the pleasure of serving a non Pro Domme.  There are a lot of people here just wasting the time of others, and they're the ones that ruin it for those subs who are truly seeking real time encounters and trying to learn about the lifestyle.  I think everyone has developed their own fake-spotting techniques, so I won't go into that here, but I understand that, particularly for a woman on this site, it takes a lot of time and frustration to sort through the wankers.

I was a wannabe with a wild imagination when I first joined a site similar to this.  Stayed like that for several years.  Read, wrote posts, asked questions, perved profiles, fantasized, wrote stories, fantasized more, wrote to a few chicks, made friends, met a few in real life, went through all the awkwardness of the initial date, had some disasters, then actually had a play encounter, then another, then another, then a few repeats, and went from wannabe to a finallydid, with lots to learn still.

In summary, folks start one way and end up as something else.

So to answer your question, yes, I imagine a high percentage of folks here never had a real-life encounter, since this site's purpose, among other things, is to be a place to learn and to be a beginner.
