It's safer for her.

I hope I don't come across that way, but there's an old saying: Idle hands are the Devil's workshop. Some guys may be just bored without anything better to do. Some guys just do strange things. Back when I was in college (even before the rise of the Internet), the police would get periodic reports of someone masturbating in the library or some other inappropriate public situation. I suppose stuff like that still goes on. It's always a man, of course. You don't hear any stories about women masturbating in the library. Many other men wouldn't blatantly break the law like that, but I guess they'll do whatever they think they can get away with. Back in the days before caller ID, there were obscene phone callers who would call women at random just to get off.

I have no argument with people having the right to decide upon their own business model, any more than I do with people having the right not to do business with certain business models. She stuck to her model, and I moved on to seek another provider.

I have no argument with people having and expressing their own opinions. You and others may agree with her business model. I just happen to disagree. It is of my opinion that it is upside down. I wouldn't buy into this arrangement any more than I would give a car dealer my full name, city and state, and telephone number just for the privilege of seeing what his car looks like and the sticker price.

We can debate about additional legal risks that providers have, but it seems that with proper precautions, these too can be eliminated. So far, no one has countered what my attorney-relative had advised me some years ago (post 51). Perhaps someone knowledgable in law will still come along and update us.

We can debate about wankers looking for freebies, but if we look at other lines of business, we see many consumers seeking freebies. Look at the no-questions-asked return policies of many major retail stores these days for a quick example. Use the item one time for what you needed it for, and simply return it for a refund.

We can debate about security risks, but nothing is going to stop the rare psychopath who has little or no regards for consequences. Advanced precautions won't prevent crimes of passion that are ignited by unbridled emotion either. Those operating within the parameters of sanity know that they've left some electronic forensics behind.

You and others can call me old school if you like, and maybe I am. The concept of this business model is too against the grain to everything I've ever known, for me to do anything but reject it. I have nothing personal against this woman, but I do hope that her business model in general eventually fails across the board. For if we see it take hold and succeed in this line of business, it may not be long before it is attempted in other lines of business as well.

This is the very first time I've encountered this business model. I wish I had waited at least a few hours to allow my WTF emotions to dissipate before posting. But aside from a somewhat melodramatic beginning, I believe my message has been fairly consistent here.

For those who agree with this woman's business model, go with it. For those who disagree, reject it. While I hope it fails, eventually the market will dictate.
