Good point. Yank rhymes with wank, stank, bank and tank.

And Brit, with tit.

Lushy, curry is not an English dish. Like anything else of value in their, um, "cuisine", it was aquired in the long gone days of Empire. In their hearts, they are offal eaters. There has even been a resurgence of offal restaurants on that dreary island in recent years. I say again, blech.

kittinSol -> RE: Yanks hate Brits (1/28/2010 8:42:11 AM)

True: haggis is offally bad.

EbonyWood -> RE: Yanks hate Brits (1/28/2010 8:44:55 AM)

Well I would say our dishes are all imports of some sort too.

We're making a real pig's ear of this thread [8D] .

Not at all, oh lushy one. American cuisine , although having been, naturally , influenced by many others, has evolved into a thing sublime. Alice Waters, Bobby Flay, Norman Aiken , the chefs who have created Floribbean cuisine and many, many others have contributed to a cuisine that is second to none.

Additionally, most gourmands would agree that , not only California wines, but other American wineries produce the finest wines in the world. This is true of a number of countries in the "New World", Chile, for example.

Have you been to The Prarie restaurant in your own town ? It features local, seasonal dishes. Lots of game and fish as well as vegetarian entrees. It is very good, American , Midwestern, fresh good at it's best. It would satisfy any Native American appetite.

Well we do put a twist on things and make it our own. Our food and wine is suberb. We still we did not invent wine, nor fries, nor a number of things. True we made it better/[:D]

I don't know what to say here without coming across as all ungrateful and controversial, what with the immigration squad on the lookout, but... *gulp*... better? *Koff koff koff*.

Yankee cooties? So what happens if I get my dream come true, go to Australia and screw several sexy, sweaty, gravely-voiced men?

EbonyWood -> RE: Yanks hate Brits (1/28/2010 9:21:54 AM)

As long as "Fuck off'' wins this poll, I don't care.

cjan -> RE: Yanks hate Brits (1/28/2010 9:25:36 AM)

My point, lushy, is that while many cuisines are derivative and evolve, some are just imports and imitations.

Try The Prairie. I believe it's in the Hyatt now. Original, local, seasonal American cuisine. I know you will enjoy it.
