Being someone outside of the USA who has mailed food to the USA, food will go there but it needs to be already packaged. A jar of food is fine. Australia is the country with the super exrtreme food immigration. If it is packaged though it has a better chance of getting through. Maybe not through the mail though. Through the airport I have brought Girl Guide cookies and they let them through. My momma was born in Holland and she used to eat picallili all the time. I never cared for it. Then again they ate herring whole too, yikes. We did used to eat canned meat. Again with toast and fried eggs. Was good tasting but I liked baked brown beans better. I eat quite a bit of beans but I cook them myself from dried. If you soak them overnight and then drain them you wont have the gas problems. Beans are awesome nutrition-wise and they taste really great too. I made black beans yesterday with roasted cumin and coriander seeds and tomato sauce (canned by my friends Italian grandmother, mmmm). There is really good dhal style with cinnamon bark, cloves, cardamon, black peppercorns and cooked slowly with ghee, oh my so good. Really good apparently to prevent breast cancer, full of Vitamin B and all around great food especially for women. If you dont have large bucks it is also inexpensive. Again, soaking them overnight will alleviate any problem with getting gas. Another favorite dish when my dad wasnt home for dinner was rice with raisins, cinnamon, butter, milk and sugar. I loved that too. When my dad was home it was always meat and potatoes, not a huge fave for me.
