I am more prone to think or believe that perhaps high blood pressure, or some congenital or vascular problem was at work here. That it was not the electricity making this girl sick but rather the hanging upside down part. Stroke and Heart issue even. Whenever you totally invert the body it puts a strain on things. If this was the case, I'm certain the electric shocks were not helping things.
While I do not play with violet wands myself, I have never heard of somebody becoming physically sick from it. However, with Body Inversions that's a different story for some people with certain medical issues.
Seriously, If she got sick, I am more prone to believe it the result of hanging upside and some other pre-exsisiting health condition.
With regards to the Beam that she was hanging off from that seems to be the least of the worries, becase it had nothing to do with her having to go to the hosipital.
Another factor, is good old fashioned exhaustion on top of bein hung upside down, having some medical condition and being shocked. That combination would make anybody sick enough to go to the ER.
Like I said,would not suprise me at all, if she perhaps had a stroke or she had high blood pressure that got shot through the roof (past that questionable support beam). With all the blood rushing to the head and heart pumping extra hard... it's just speeds up things such as aneurysms too. Take somebody who has diseased or weakened blood vessles at the base of the brain and hang 'em upside and see what happens.
All of the things I just tossed out... the person would most certainly look sick.. complete with changes in skin color major changes in facial expression and such.
My money is on a pre-exisiting medical condition and her hanging upside down, not that silly zap wand thingy-a-ma-bob. Not unless he was applying it to her forehead and over her heart or around her throat (you know the not so safe places to shock people let alone when they are hanging upside down).
I would have to have been one of the shocked and repulsed on lookers, to really have an appreciation for what went wrong.
Back to that support beam, probally would be wise for the Dungeon Master or Mistress to hang a do not hang from here sign. Perhaps reinforce the beam knowing somebody might use it. Gee.. look.. who would ever think to use a Beam in a Dungeon to hang somebody off from? Dugh? That's sort of like wondering why people drank up your 6 pack of beer you left in the middle of the room at a party.
One more thought about the girl hanging upside down, if she had some issue with her nervous system, both the hanging upside down and the zappy wand combined may have done wonders in speeding up the death or near death experience.
I just picked up upon your use of the word "sick" here, and it seems to have slipped past the attention of other people.
Generally speaking, you can take healthy people hang them upside down and Zap the shit out of them within a reasonable of time. Return to upright position, for the sensation of light headedness and such while their bodies blood flow readjusts to normal upright position..and whatever sub-space state of mind they are in.
I guess, the only TRUE Moral of my posting here is... Get Routine Check-ups from your Doctor. Make certain you are in a good health. Have your heart stress tested, know if your blood pressure is generally high or low. If you have any medical conditions, do a little research on things. It's always wise to know if things such as RollarCoaster Rides, being hung upside down, shocked with Zappy Wands or even if Scuba Diving is or is not safe for you to do. Not to mention having sex, you know the proverbial stories about somebody having a stroke or heart attack the same time when they cum.
