going to be celebrating Valentine's day?  i'm trying to think of an original gift, but after thirty two years of marriage i am kind of out of original ideas. Betweeen the two of us we have almost everything we want. Of course you can never have too much chocolate. :)

I have to work Valentine's Day so I'm planning to take a rose out to his grave the next day. Hopefully the florist will have yellow roses. They gave me red and white ones for his funeral when I specifically (and my very Domme daughters made VERY clear) requested yellow. Be nice to give him the right thing this time.

This is RC

Valentines Day is the worst day of the year.
Whether or not you are in a relationship you are shafted because if you are, you are emotionally blackmailed by society, media and sometimes your partner by 'proving' your love by the extravagance of your gift and if your single then it's a stark reminder you are alone.

Besides, if you are in love, then every day is a celebration of your love, like it is for .dark. and I. Who needs some commercial day to express it?

Then why not take the money you were going to spend on this holiday and donate it to charity in your partners name... something you both feel strongly about. Then again, a spa day, even for males, would be a great gift...

We are getting tattoos together that weekend. I'm hoping the artist lets me do a tiny little bit of his and lets him do a tiny little bit of mine.

You become more and more disgusting with everyday. I hate you

Jeff

Awww RC! How can you put down a holiday that condones eating all the chocolate that you want? It;s the one day where people don't bug you for doing so.

i love the idea about giving money to our favorite charity and i know just the one. Thanks!

Marc2b -> RE: Are you and your partner (2/3/2010 12:26:02 PM)

My Gal Pal/slave better bring me some chocolate on Valentines Day or else she's getting the paddle!

I don't think we celebrate it in the same way you do in the US because our chocolate holiday is easter.

I have never liked valentines day it doesn't celebrate anything really and allows annoying couples to make anyone single feel shit about themselves which seems a little cruel. I also think its fairly outdated, never do you see a woman giving a bloke a big bunch of roses.

Oh, Easter is our chocolate holiday too... as is Halloween and Christmas.

Aside from the "dark and I" part, I have to echo this. I totally HATE Hallmark holidays and Valentines is the worst of the lot.

EVERY day is a chocolate holiday!!!

xxblushesxx -> RE: Are you and your partner (2/3/2010 12:53:16 PM)

Every day is a good day for chocolate! I got three boxes of Fannie May in the mail yesterday from HM. One is for my birthday and the other two for V-day.

Something funny about my birthday box...it's all dark chocolates; his favorite (not mine!) *lol*

We'll probably go out somewhere nice this weekend, and maybe to a casino, and that will effectively take care of my b-day and v-day. Although we always exchange something on v-day so, I guess I'll just spend the next couple weeks being spoiled!

So just any then? We don't really do halloween, though more and more people do go trick or treating it is totally stolen from America, it wasn't really around at all when I was a kid and I am not all that old.

Seems like all religious festivals have been stolen by corporations to make money.

theobserver -> RE: Are you and your partner (2/3/2010 1:03:30 PM)

I've never been fond of Valentine's day, even when I was with someone. This year is definitely not an exception.

lovingpet -> RE: Are you and your partner (2/3/2010 1:08:28 PM)

My husband and I will be.  It's his big shining romantic moment or some such.  My partner and I will not be.  He realizes Valentine's Day is full of a lot of pain for me and prefers not put me through it.  I appreciate the gesture of each.

Halloween isn't just about Trick or Treating.  It is also about adults going to costume parties (bon fire parties if you're in a rural area) and having a druken revelry.  It's one of the most fun holidays there is.  I have an idea, let's both celebrate Halloween and Guy Fawkes Day - that way we can have TWO really fun holidays within a few days of each other.

Only if you let them.  Television may give that impression but television is usually the wrong impression.  My experience is that most holidays are still meaninfully observed by most people.

kittinSol -> RE: Are you and your partner (2/3/2010 1:25:47 PM)

For us, V Day is just the perfect excuse to catch dinner and a movie.

I can't believe how suburban I've become [:(] .
