Halloween isn't just about Trick or Treating. It is also about adults going to costume parties (bon fire parties if you're in a rural area) and having a druken revelry. It's one of the most fun holidays there is. I have an idea, let's both celebrate Halloween and Guy Fawkes Day - that way we can have TWO really fun holidays within a few days of each other.

See we have bonfire night but doesn't really involve drunken revelry, thats kinda new years eve.

I dunno I think with so many holidays you forget what you are celebrating Valentines day is the worst and I always think halloween is a little tasteless.

Only if you let them. Television may give that impression but television is usually the wrong impression. My experience is that most holidays are still meaninfully observed by most people.

I don't see it you described Halloween as being an excuse to get drunk, I don't see that as meaningful. Christmas is probably the only holiday that means a lot in my family because of all the traditions, then actually bonfire night but other than that everything is an excuse to buy people stuff. I like christmas I do think a lot of people put too much into the gift side of things but generally people are nicer and they make an effort and have traditions I get the impression that thanksgiving is like that for you as well as christmas. Valentines day though is nothing other than buying stuff to prove you love someone

by 'proving' your love by the extravagance of your gift

Now...Valentines day did never really matter to me as thankfully it is not as much a thing in Germany as it is over here (of course some couple use that day, but also many don't).

However, I found a gift for my "potential Dom"...where...well...I am wondering if he might consider that as an extravagant gift as well[8|]

That being said I only send it to him as it does not cost a fortune and as a little humour to his extreme cleanliness habbit he has whereas I am ... not as good in keeping the place clean as he seems to be.

And in the unlikely event that we would move on then the little note on it would contribute to our "evidence" list in regards to immigration process...however...here is my extravagant gift to him for valentines day [&:]

As sadly this one above is not available from amazon itself I have to get him that one for the "proper" valentine version

http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Idiots-Guide-Green-Cleaning/dp/159257856X/ref=dp_ob_title_bk

as I cant guarantee delivery on time and cant send it wrapped in with a personal note on it from second hand sellers.

I am wondering about his reaction...and hope he won't decide to let me work through that book when we meet[8|]

No.  People don't need an excuse to get drunk.  The key word is revelry.  It is a wild celebration of simply being alive.  It is a celebration that say to death and to all our fears - real or imagined - GO FUCK YOURSELF!

We are getting tattoos together that weekend. I'm hoping the artist lets me do a tiny little bit of his and lets him do a tiny little bit of mine.

You can buy home tattoo kits, y'know.  You could even do it the old-fashioned Chinese way, with a sewing needle and some thread and India ink.  :D  Though I don't recommend doing that if you aren't in a totally sterile environment.  Like a surgical suite or something.

Once Master has enough money (after we move in together), he's thinkin' bout tattooing me.  I can't wait.

Anyway, on topic; for Valentines' day we're just gonna get dinner and relax at home.  We don't put much stock in silly Hallmark holidays like this.  I understand the point and the attraction for most people, but neither of us think it's that big of a deal.

Oh well.  It was just an idea.  ^^;

Awww RC! How can you put down a holiday that condones eating all the chocolate that you want? It;s the one day where people don't bug you for doing so.

i love the idea about giving money to our favorite charity and i know just the one. Thanks!

This is RC

I didn't put down a holiday, I exalted the ability to love when a person desires, not just on one day a year.
Chocolate and beer is an all round thing too.[;)]

Give music....................

.................give them a Ukulele   !!

Valentines when we lived in America. Always remember my sons shock at being given choclates by lots of children including boys - very odd to our way of thinking but it was explained as more of a friendship think in US schools. Teachers encourages that everyone should give and recieve from all in their class.

Well if that is really what people are celebrating, or indeed anything at all then fair enough :)

agirl -> RE: Are you and your partner (2/3/2010 2:40:45 PM)

 Why not?

It's just an excuse to be even more wicked to each other.

He'll find the worst card in the world, preferably with a terrible tune inside when you open it, which'll make me laugh as I try to be cross...He goes to disgusting lengths to find the card most likely to piss me off.............lol

I'll spend hours making my own card with something deeply meaningful inside that he'll take the piss out of..........neither of us will eat any chocolate and we'll end up in hysterics over how awful we are to each other as we do every year.

I wouldn't be without St Valentine's Day...great stuff.

HisSweetElysium -> RE: Are you and your partner (2/3/2010 3:54:27 PM)

no offense, but I'll cut the sarcasm, it's a terrible idea.  Go professional, do your research and take time. Few things in this life you will spend money on that you will have forever.  Tattoos are one of them, and cheap is expensive to fix.

HisSweetElysium -> RE: Are you and your partner (2/3/2010 3:56:01 PM)

oh and with regard to the original question; I think we're going to the Fet flea the day before, so I'll get my present then I'm sure.  He's got cute boxers and cuff links coming his way...

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Are you and your partner (2/3/2010 4:27:26 PM)

Not on the actual day, since every one goes out on the actual day and I don't care for the crowd. Plus I believe he works that day. However the next day, we're going to where he works and eating there, since I love the food and ice tea.

going to be celebrating Valentine's day?  i'm trying to think of an original gift, but after thirty two years of marriage i am kind of out of original ideas. Betweeen the two of us we have almost everything we want. Of course you can never have too much chocolate. :)

Not for him it is. I know him well enough by now to know that when he reads that suggestion he'll be inking me himself one day. Fuck me. I'm screwed.

edited to add...I can't get that thought out of my head now. It is so freakin hot.

I have that same problem.  <3  It is pretty hot, isn't it?

It's actually very safe when done properly, but almost impossible to do properly, so I'd suggest not doing it that way.  But you can buy tattoo machines and learn how to use them and stuff rather than doing it publicly with an impersonal paid guy.

But yeah, all sarcasm and kinkiness aside, I understand that it's not a good idea for most people to try out and can end in really destructive consequences.  General rule of thumb; don't fuck around with permanent stuff.

I still think it's hot as hell, though.  <3  Mmm.

sexyred1 -> RE: Are you and your partner (2/3/2010 5:36:46 PM)

I hate Valentines Day, always did. Even though I did get engaged on Valentines Day many moons ago and that was sort of fun.

Now it is commercial crap. I believe that you don't need one day to show how crazy you are about someone, you can do that everyday.

And I agree with Jefff, Aileen is starting to put me in diabetic coma.

(but she knows I love her and we are just jealous!!!)
