I would listen to you before I banged you. I would look earnest and make all the appropriate noises.

After ?...... "why are you still talking?"...... " go make me a sandwich!"

Love

Jeff

You forget that my real life conversation is beyond stellar, and that I would mesmerize you with my culture and intelligence. You wouldn't have to pretend to be fascinated: you would be!!!

Come to mama.

I enjoy intelligent conversation. I hate idle chit chat just to fill a sound void.

I often make people uncomfortable because I hate idle chit chat. But I have been complimented many times that some people love that they can be 'comfortably silent' with me.

In relationships, I have......annoyed.....S.O.'s because I don't feel it necessary to always talk. I hate arguing, especially when angry or upset. I prefer to retreat, calm down, think things through, then have a productive discussion about the issue. However, if pushed to it, I will use words to rip that person to shreds. Or, I will just laugh at their efforts.....depending upon my mood. I totally refuse to have a serious relationship discussion type thing while drinking or when one party is under the influence. Waste of time.

I think that mostly, most people feel I do not talk enough. I am okay with that. I don't need to use a lot of words to convey what a look or action does better.

I appreciate that your warning signs are so large!

Some have internal warning signs that are large...and on some, the signs are external....and visibly just as large. Right?

Seriously though, each time that guy appears anywhere, and I mean anywhere, on any kind of thread, it's to derail it into a bitchfest against women. His MO is always the same.

This just proves how selective your vision and memory are. WhenI appear, it is almost *always* to counteract anti-male propaganda, stereotypes or generalizations.

Funny how everyone else can do those things about men and it's ok, but when I do them back....oh that's not ok at all. Typical.

Yea, cause ALL women clean out men in divorce.

What's the matter? I thought with your generalizing, anyone was allowed to. No?

Can't take it, hmm?

Thats funny. You were a 4 star general I thought. Or I wouldnt have commented on your post.

You do show your bitterness toward women though. I appreciate that your warning signs are so large!

Imagine.......a thread about women and mr bad attitude shows up with, as usual, nothing of value to say. Just more........waa waa waa. His momma musta thrown him down the stairs a few too many times or something.

I dunno, I never had any complaints but I do talk a lot.  Current Master does actually talk more than me though, which at times makes me dizzy.  when my head starts to spin and I can't keep up with what He's saying, I find taking off my clothes and kneeling at His feet unusually solves the problem.  Maybe the men should try some version of that if they want to shut their women up?

Seriously, the guy's such a killjoy - it's as if he waits in stealth and lurks about until there's an appropriate thread for him to bitch about us . Granted, he has "issues", but it's not our fault, so why does he try and make us all responsible for his unhappy state of mind? It's beyond tedious.

I wanted to address something MzMia said earlier about as she gets older, she finds she talks less and men won't shut up.

I kind of agree. I have to talk in my job so much (sales) and at the end of the day these days, I don't want to chat alot. Writing is different though.

On so many dates this past year, or on the phone with someone for the first time, I found many men overtalked, interrupted, did not listen, don't ask questions. They seemed hellbent on impressing me with their exploits, job, money, dissed their past relationships, were bitter about women, talked about divorce, blah blah blah.

Then at the end of the date, wondered why I was not interested in a second or on the phone when asking to meet up, said, WHY??? We are getting along so well? Whhhhat happened???

There should be a thread called Listening Men. Even if you fake it, it will go along way to getting that second date if you show interest.

I can talk about anything, if someone is not talking over me. And I am not one of those women who just chatter away; I am comfortable with silence with the right person.

The moment I log in here and *don't* see women bitching about, stereotyping or over-generalizing men, I will cease in doing the same.

Until then, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Deal with it.

~ Fast Misogyny ~

Talking women can be annoying, especially when they get together to chat about how bad their partners are and how they 'abuse' them. However they "put up with it", because "what else can I do?", "otherwise he's a 'good guy'", "I can't afford to be out there on my own", "I don't want to upset the kids", or "whatever....". In 54 years of life, I've never been around a group of men having similar discussions. As we all know from our reading of representations made on CM; men are slimy, shallow pigs, who only talk about sex, lack of sex, their frigid wifes, partners who don't indulge their fantasies, getting head, fast cars, getting head while driving a fast car, and sports.

There is a distinction too. "Talking women", exchanging viewpoints and perspectives are enjoyable and a source of knowledge. Lecturing women are a pain in the ass, no less than any source of 'one true way'.

They are the pointed direction of the joke; why is divorce so expensive? - It's worth it. And it is

My talking woman is entertaining, amusing, intellectually stimulating, and a joy to be around. We go to sleep talking with each other and wake up talking with each other. Not 'at', not 'to' - with. At the end of the day, I couldn't tell you about what; but somehow when we wake up - there's still more to say. Whatever is going on -the news, sports, kids - ours & others, pets, house maintenance, car maintenance, trips, parties, costumes, shopping, politics; disagreeing as often as agreeing. beth is fun to talk with, a source of knowledge and unconsidered perspectives.

This morning, when beth came back in the room after waking up the rooster, she pointed out this thread. I asked her if she ever felt something she had to say was "unwelcome". I was surprised that she answered yes. her first example was her emotional feelings about animal rescue commercials. Not so much 'unwelcome' but kinda silly - "no beth - you can't adopt every abandoned pet!". I know - I'm a cruel 'Master'. The other example was when she did something, or didn't do something she was supposed to because she knew it would upset me. Well, I can appreciate the anticipation of talking about something which would disappoint me would be unwelcome. I feel the same way. There's never a deliberate, or conscious effort to do so, but one similarity between us is we both are much more demanding of ourselves than we are of each other. I realize that we both don't like to tell the other about the mistakes we made; yet we do and move on. We are eagerly anticipating our first 'fight' because we want to experience 'make-up sex'!

We enjoy talking with each other and have had a running dialog for seven years.
