DarlingSavage -> It's not getting hard!!!! (2/13/2010 1:59:20 PM)

I made fudge and it's still more like chocolate fondue than fudge. Except it's cold. I followed the directions, but I don't have a thermometer so I just had to guess at temps. I figured, well, that's hot enough. Still, though, I think it should be getting stiff, but it's not. I got tired of beating it, too. I was beating it with the beater for seemed like forever. How can this be fixed, anyone know?

It still tastes good, though. That chocolate thread made me do it.

I plead the 5th...oh wait we don't have that in Canada.

As to your OP, puzzling, how soft is it? (damn my mind just went there again but I'm really trying to help.

ETA: did you put it in the fridge afterwards?

Level -> RE: It's not getting hard!!!! (2/13/2010 2:10:33 PM)

Did you forget an ingredient?

Fudge is tricky.  You really do have to get it to that ssoft ball stage, but not beyond.  Sometimes it won't get hard (you didn't bil it long enough), sometimes you end up with a concrete brick (boiled it too long).

Keep a glass of very cold water by your pot, and let a small amount drizzle from your spoon into the glass.  When the fudge hits the cold water and starts to ball up, you want to take it off the stove and immediately let it cool off.

Fudge is tricky.  Men are easier.  My best advise is get you a sexy guy to buy you the chocolate fudge and then find fun ways to experiement with it.  You are usually guaranteed things will get hard then.

Oh, it's about the same consistency of a fondue and yes, I put it in the fridge. Maybe it hasn't been in long enough, but it seems like it's been long enough. I don't know, I haven't really timed it.

Only the vanilla cause I don't have any, however, I put in peanut butter, even though the directions didn't call for it, but that should have helped it thicken up, though. Right?

It's been a long time since I cooked anything other than noodles, scrambled eggs, or frozen dinners.

Well, I did not know how to do that. I'll file that away for future reference. The recipe mentioned the soft ball stage but only talked about reaching desired temperatures. I like your suggestion best, though. Hot guys are most definitely preferable! Especially those bearing gifts of Vosges and Godiva and sparkly shiny objects.

Maybe or maybe not. I'm reluctant to fuck with a recipe but what do I know, I've never made fudge.

Winnie is right about dropping a bit into cold water. I don't know how lack of vanilla would affect it. Hell, run to the store and get some, and try another batch. And do add the peanut butter, that's the best kind.

No, you are not going to be able to fix it.  Might I suggest (depending on the consistancy) ice-cream topping or cake frosting?

MasterG2kTR -> RE: It's not getting hard!!!! (2/13/2010 2:33:31 PM)

Try dipping pretzels in it....GREAT COMBO!!!

Yep, devour or dispose of all evidence of your mistakes! [:D]  Then start over and try again!
Pardon me now, while I go join the Biggest Losers of CM ......

PS: I really am getting dense and not paying attention.  I missed the last sentence in your post.

I was right there with ya zephy!  LOL

I've not made fudge... but the rest of the description sounded like a playful night in the dungeon to me, but alas the end results were lacking... *sighs and slips on the exam glove*

subfever -> RE: It's not getting hard!!!! (2/13/2010 2:42:24 PM)

Of course it's not getting stiff. You've been beating it, instead of stroking it gently and blowing on it.

lovingpet -> RE: It's not getting hard!!!! (2/13/2010 2:48:56 PM)

Ohhhhhh Ohhhhhh Ohhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

I just had the image of a very panicked Mistress trying desperately to get her boy's cock to rise again after......well....... a fun scene gone terribly wrong!  LOL  Who wants to give mouth to head resuscitation????  Anyone????  Heeeeeeellllllllp!!!!!!!!!

Why do I suddenly feel the urge to add softballs to my toybag list of pervertible?

DarlingSavage -> RE: It's not getting hard!!!! (2/13/2010 2:56:58 PM)

Well, I'm not going to try it again. I'm out of stuff, now. So, I'm just going to make do with what I've got. It does still taste good. That's the important part. Thanks for helping, though, Win, I'll remember that next time.

To everyone else, thanks so much for taking this thread in the spirit in which it was given. I do so like double entendre!
