Psychological Impacts Not Found for Casual Sex Among Young Adults ScienceDaily (Dec. 9, 2009) — University of Minnesota Project Eating Among Teens (EAT) researchers have found that young adults engaging in casual sexual encounters do not appear to be at increased risk for harmful psychological outcomes as compared to sexually active young adults in more committed relationships. While this study focused on the psychological impact, researchers caution that the physical risks of casual sex should not be overlooked.

This was brought to my attention by hopelessfool on pg. 15, post 296.

I responded pg. 16, post 313.

And yet, where is the better research that shows the findings here to be incorrect? You can attack another researchers work all day, but you have no contrary findings to support your position.... just personal opinion...

I do social science research for a living.... and I have to tell you that people have been having casual sex since the dawn of time, reproduction of the species, etc... now I will say that yes, casual sex and casual BSDM can be harmful for those who tie their emotionality to it. I am not necessarily an advocate for casual BDSM or sex, but saying it is emotionally damaging for those who do it without a shred of evidence, well that is just silly unsubstantiated opinion without any basis in reality.

Now you can spew your opinion all day and all night, it doesn't change the fact that it is an opinion that is no more valid than mine, except I have Kinsey and other researchers to substantiate my position that sexuality is an individual thing and different people have different intimacy needs based upon culture and their own uniqueness...

When you can pony up something other than your opinion I may take you seriously, but I seriously doubt you will... kinky people have faced persecution from far more erudite individuals than yourself who claimed we were damaged for doing this in committed relationships.. their opinions are being regularly debunked too

Start a thread on something else.

I've started two in the Creative Writing forum: "Endings" and "Introductions".

lusciouslips19 -> RE: A legend returns ... (2/18/2010 8:08:18 AM)

Writing a biography on your dead wife and child is not creative and shows that you are stuck. I think therapy is needed and maybe some extra cirricular activities and a grief group might help. But your writing is the same train of thought that leads us all believe you only have one mode and thought you work with. If this is the case, you will stay alone.

Speaking of sadists and masochists,blood in the water,sharks and other delightful elements.....

Is anyone else reminded of this guy by a song like this one?

That is correct. My personal opinion based on my experience, the experience of others and my analysis of the ethcs involved and the consequences of pursuing such ethics.

As you have no research to support that claim, you too are expressing an opinion.

As for what I have, it is in the essay on Casual BDSM in my profile. If you've not read it I fail to see the basis upon which you reject it.

If so I fail to see why you didn't provide such evidence rather than a vague news report about a study where bias has not been ruled out.

~smile~

I see one person talking about a love-based paradigm for bdsm, and perhaps thirty individuals doing their best to attack the self-esteem and popularity of ths one individual because he will not say casual bdsm is a viable alternative.

Who is persecuting whom for his beliefs?

Isn't one of the hallmarks of insanity-doing the same thing over and over-but expecting different results each time?

Elizabeth666 -> RE: A legend returns ... (2/18/2010 8:29:21 AM)

Were you on MDS? Bloved

GreedyTop -> RE: A legend returns ... (2/18/2010 8:29:33 AM)

yeah, but I guess by that definition almost everyone who has posted on this thread qualifies as insane... bobbykins for being so intractable, the rest of us for trying to change his petrified mind.

Your unwillingness to consider other points of view, your absolute black and white thinking, picking and choosing only arguments you think you can win and not answering the tough questions, and your twisting words that people have said is decidedly IMMATURE

I think you said somewhere back in this thread that you didn't remember him.  For those of us that do, this is nothing new.  You can't have a conversation with him, because he doesn't respond to what you say.  And then you find yourself responding to something he said that gives the appearance that he misunderstood you, when in reality he is blowing smoke to distract you.

Yes.

As I believe I said in the first post, I've been banned from all the forums.

GreedyTop -> RE: A legend returns ... (2/18/2010 8:31:59 AM)

I'd rather have Holly as my therapist than to have you as a homeless guy washing my car windows with a dirty rag while spewing your beliefs at me while I am trying to get through the intersection////
