Ok, this is a bit out of the norm of most of the opinion on this thread, but yes, I do believe Tiger Wood's owed an apology to his fans and the people that endorsed him. Shortly (I don't know how many weeks, or even months) before the whole thing happened, they had him in an interview going on about how family came first, golf came second, being a good role model and all that crap was what he was claiming he was. He wouldn't be "the richest paid sports player in America", if he didn't have a fan base and sponsors who believed in him. I think he should be accountable to them at least in an honest way. I don't think its important that he go into the specifics of his family life, but I did think he needed to say he was sorry. If nothing else to the people who made him a billionaire. He's certainly not the only good golf player. As far as the women he fucked...well, I'd say thats all they were really. He apologized publicly to all the people he should have apologized to. To me, thats just taking responsibility and owning up to people who had your back when you were running behind theirs.

This I feel to be a loaded gun for me really. As far a public apology NO I don't think he owed everyone that he didn't wrong that. Do I think he had to give an apology, yes to his wife and family, as well as his endorsers that is it in my opinion. He is owning up to what he did, that is good also the first step to recovery in some shrinks eyes. Also he has been known to be a control freak, so this apology was to show that he can still have power to get the media to him.

The PGA is desperate for him to come back, so much so they'd probably sneak hookers into his hotel for him, even now. Hell, they have let John Daly come back numerous times, talk about a walking disaster.

It's ridiculous that everyone thinks he owes America an apology. He's a sports player, that's it. He endorses merchandise. He didn't hurt anyone except his wife and his kids. The media made his apology as important as a presidential speech. It was absurd.

Tiger. Tiger. Tiger. I like Tiger Woods. It really is hard not to. He always seemed to be a very genuine person and much of his appeal is something that could not be faked. I wonder if his father had not passed if all of this would have transpired? As much as someone would love to have the wealth of a Tiger Woods I wonder about the serious trade offs of being imprisoned. You are isolated and far too often you are surrounded by people that kiss your ass for dollars or just want to be a part of the entourage. The loss of reality and a sense of entitlement seems to always enter the picture. So the dude goes to Vegas where he can blow off some steam, with a certain degree of anonymity, and all holy Hell breaks loose. He obviously made some very poor decisions. The poor kid has lived under a microscope for his entire adult life. This is a common theme played out by millions of people. rockspider is a dope. I had never heard of Tiger's indiscretions until they were publicly aired. I have only read rather remarkable things about his wife. She seems to not only be a beautiful woman but has handled this whole affair with as much grace and dignity as possible. I believe that Tiger did have to make a public statement. While others have made it clear that they should never considered to be a role model, Tiger gladly accepted that title. Because of Tiger Woods I am sure that there are people who were motivated to do things that they thought at one time might have been impossible or simply beyond their reach. Tiger is more than just a man and he does represent more to so many than just a guy that plays golf or cheated on his wife. The statement could have come without the aid of notes but I do believe that Tiger is embarrassed by his conduct and is truly shaken that he strayed from his fundamental beliefs. I am sure that he is sad he got caught. However, it would seem that due to the rather extreme nature of his conduct that him "getting caught" would have inevitably been somewhat of a forgone conclusion. He is not a stupid guy. I think there must have been a part of him that wanted to get caught, that needed to get caught. I usually root for the under dog. Tiger is no under dog. For some reason there are some people that you enjoy watching succeed. I hope Tiger finds success.
