Yeah, his handlers are so protective they won't allow him to answer any questions from intelligent people like reporters... only republicans..

Actually Anita Dunn has made quite a few comments on it, and how they are controlling the message. It is similar to the way they handled the campaign "One of the reasons we did so many of the David Plouffe videos was not just for our supporters, but also because it was a way for us to get our message out without having to actually talk to reporters. ... We just put that out there and made them write what Plouffe had said as opposed to Plouffe doing an interview with a reporter. So it was very much we controlled it as opposed to the press controlled it."

I am not sure which video that is, but I am assuming it is from the Repub retreat. If you look at the transcript you will see the ducking and dodging, oh and the fact that it was a focused meeting on healthcare, any question that was remotely off-topic got booted.

Oh.... you mean that Obama is a politician? I am so utterly fucking shocked...

You will not find me defending Obama everywhere... I expect little from politicians, but come now, attacking Obama about his unwillingness to answer questions by comparing him to Bush.. Bush wouldn't call on reporters he didn't like.. it is easy to hold press conferences when only reporters that you allow access are playing for your team... this is really a fucking seriously silly comparison and a rewriting of history... something that Bush supporters are prone to do

So Bush and the gay porn actor he gave journalist credentials for the white house played for the same team? That would explain a lot.

Hmmm.... I ain't saying I do not believe that interpretation, but that isn't what I said....

You didn't catch me defending Bush. Although he did take questions from all reporters in the press corps at the White House briefings, including those from the other side of the aisle.

Indeed he is a politician. I am not after him for that, I am just suggesting that taking questions on a single topic, is quite different than answering questions at the daily briefings or press conferences. Just as giving interviews is much different than that daily live event. Bush showed how inept he was at using the language regularly at them. Obama had the one slip up at one, and now he is avoiding them like the plague. Is that not a fair comparison?

Bullshit

He routinely ignored Helen thomas, senior white house reporter and traditionally always allowed to ask at least one question.

Answering questions would have given him less time to mock the afflicted, though.

Did he take questions from her? How about others on the left?

I know that was just a figment of my imagination...

Right, its not like the Republicans will ask about anything other than health care. Its not like actual reporters could ask about, oh, say... expanding Bush's wars with one hand while clutching a peace prize in the other.

Its a very safe environment. His Katie Couric interview was probably tougher.

It still doesn't change the fact that he did hold pressers, and took questions from the opposition. Suggesting that because he snubbed the "first lady of the press" corps in the later days, is the general rule that he didn't take questions from the other side of the aisle is false. He in fact, continued to put his foot in his mouth until the very end.

Ken can call bullshit all he wants on that front, but that dog don't hunt. It also doesn't change the comparison of Obama not doing any White House press briefings since the one slip up about the cops acting stupidly.

You want more? Grab the transcripts for his 5 news conferences, his entires second term effectively, and see how many questions he took from WaPo, NYT and the LA Times.

Did he answer any questions from any of them?

Again the premise remains the same, the intellectually inferior Bush still took questions at these things. Obama is closing in on a year soon without taking a single question at one, even from his supporters....

Just checking the stats, Bush even increased the number of press conferences after his second innauguration....

Closing in on a year? 215 days in closing in on 365? Are you unable to do even basic math? We're not even talking about 60% of a year.

This is the one thing you refute? Simply amazing. My apologies it hasn't quite been 60% of a year yet since he started ducking the pressers.

So when is he going to go in front of the White House press corps? This administration of being open and transparent?

I suppose being intellectually honest is rough for you? I forgot you are still living in Dem central, I wouldn't want you to get in trouble with the information police there.

It's on the other side of 50%.  To be exact:  58.90410958904109589041095890411%

Less than 2% away from 60%.

Certainly more than half way.

I'd say that qualifies as "closing in on a year".
