quote:
ORIGINAL: kittinSol I know... but I still question the validity of the innocence argument. Nobody deserves to suffer, whether they're new, old, powerless or not, whether they're good, or bad, or both, like most of us are. I understand why the pathos of a young baby dying is so much more horrible to our collective mind, but I don't understand why a baby's life is so much more valuable than a grown man's. The argument of innocence is one made by a sentimentality that I believe stems from a lot of comfort. ~ CynicalMoi. Pol Pot, as an adult, had already screwed the pooch (ruined his life by his actions), whereas a child has not done so; hand me a gun, and if I have to shoot one or the other, Pol Pot would die. That's an extreme example, I know, but that's kinda how I see things.
