AquaticSub -> My New Dom... (2/22/2010 4:24:23 PM)

So Val and I have a new dom in our lives. He's a handsome chap with a white and gray hair, about three inchs round and a foot long. He's playful, charming, loves to nibble on you, and looks oh so endearing when he's curled up with the tip of his tail covering his nose...

Oh little ferret-dominant, how we love you already. So far Valyraen has managed to maintain his freedom but me... the little guy started domming me on the way home. Peeking his little head out of the box, issuing his little commands of "Out! I want out! I need to explore!".

I'm owned by a man, two cats and a ferret... I have a good life. [:)]

(BTW - anyone with ferret tips, please share them. I'm already amused by his habit of running around like crazy in his cage but napping in his ball.)

Yay for ferret doms

Too cute!

Welcome to the family, oh little dominant one. I envy you the soft, bewbalicious hugs you will receive from your sub.

Awwww... congratulations to the new addition. Always wanted a ferret, just never got around to getting one. I know that they love hammocks and tubes though, they can be litterbox trained... one of my friends back home had a ferret and he had a harness with a bell on him so when he was out that he could more easily find him. Good luck with your new Dom [;)]

trappedinamuseum -> RE: My New Dom... (2/22/2010 4:55:30 PM)

What is it's name?

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: My New Dom... (2/22/2010 4:59:03 PM)

*in most dominant voice* Pictures, I demand pictures!!!

Valyraen -> RE: My New Dom... (2/22/2010 5:12:00 PM)

The new little one's name is Scooter, and he's currently sleeping in his litter, despite having a perfectly serviceable ferret hammock hanging not two feet over his head. Pictures will be forthcoming once Kitten gets back - she ran out to get treats for her new little fuzzy master and to drop off gifts to one of our friends.

Ferret tips? Do they come with peppers and onions? *g*

Even though they're de-scented (which I'm assuming he is) you'll have to bathe them a lot. (we used to bathe ours almost every day. You'll have to figure out a way to keep the oil on their skin as well.

Hide all your pretty shiny things, or he will! *lol*

Take lots of pics and some videos and share them with us. (weird tip I know, but it's a rule...)

Congrats on your new dom!!

Recipe for fun with a ferret:
-Boil an egg to (hard boiled)
-Put just the tiniest crack in the shell
-Add 1 hungry ferret and a tile or vinyl floor (the kitchen works well)
-Laugh your ass off watching hir try to get into the damned thing [:D]

Ferrets are wonderful pets i have had Sweety (my ferret) for almost a yr. She was a rescue animal. They are EXTREMELY active and will ruin your carpet if left unattended. lmfao Sweety loves to creep between my sheets when she is out running amuck. lol

AquaticSub -> RE: My New Dom... (2/22/2010 6:27:38 PM)

Wyld, I love you... lol

And as promised here is a picture! [:)]

That's ok. Between two cats and college friends coming over, the thing is pretty much ruined anyway, LOL

The little domly Scooter is currently altnerating between nipping and licking my hands and napping in my lap while Valyraen plays around with the cage set-up. [:)]

Awwwww, awesome pic!
Oh, a word of caution about the clothes dryer. About once a month, my little domly one would manage to work the vent hose loose and climb inside it. He never got outside, but he always came out of the hose sporting about 2lbs of lint! Funny as hell when he sneezed and a cloud erupted, but not a good thing overall. [8D]

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: My New Dom... (2/22/2010 6:32:24 PM)

Awwwww Aqua he's so sweeeeeet. I think I'm in love

SweetNika -> RE: My New Dom... (2/22/2010 6:32:46 PM)

OMG Wyld I have to remember that since my new place has a washer and dryer in it. lmfao

AquaticSub -> RE: My New Dom... (2/22/2010 6:43:39 PM)

He is quite the charmer. Val was saying no, that he didn't want to get another animal... and then he met Scooter. *sighs dreamily* Just can't say no to that fuzzy face...

But really this is our last pet for a long time. We mean it this time!

Wyld, thanks for reminding me about the washer and dryer. Fortunately, ours in one of those built in spaces with two sliding doors that block them off completely. Since there isn't even a quarter inch of space for to squeeze through when the doors are shut, I'm not too worried about him getting into the washer/dryer/vents.

And also, I just got a really cute pic of him napping that shows his little face! [:)]

lovingpet -> RE: My New Dom... (2/22/2010 8:10:23 PM)

What an absolute dollbaby!  Just remember that, though they are some lazy daisies most of the time, when they are up and about, they want to play with YOU.  They are extremely social babies and need lots of attention and stimulation (Shup Red LOL *inside joke*).  Toys just don't cut it... unless of course you are playing with them too!  [:D]

My little guy loves his vitamin gook and his Ferretone.  I would keep any supplements or meds they might need on hand just because when one of these babies is in need of something they need it RIGHT NOW.  A sick ferret can become a sad memory in a real hurry.

Shiny things will disappear.  So will noisy things (bells, keys, etc.)  If it is big enough for the head, it is big enough for a ferret to wriggle into.  That nose is strong, so sliding style doors such as your laundry area are no guarantee.  Coupling bath time with the funnest playtime EVER helps make it not so traumatic.  Lickie stuff like the vitamin gook is a good way to teach baby licks are good and nibbles are bad.  Love and be loved in return.  I think that covers it.  LOL

Enjoy your sweetie!

AquaticSub -> RE: My New Dom... (2/22/2010 9:14:44 PM)

Thanks for the advice loving! So far, he doesn't need any meds or anything but I'll be sure to keep that in mind as he gets older. I don't want to lose my baby!

I'll have to get some the vitamin gook for him because he seems positively determined to lick and nibble my hand off. So far I've been working on the reward system of petting when he licks and giving his nose a light tap when he nibbles too hard, along with removed the hand. That seems to be discouraging without hurting him.

I'm actually really looking forward to bathing him. I've had cats all my life and the two dogs I owned HATED the water so I'm really hoping to have a little bath buddy - making sure to keep all my bath stuff away from him of course. [:)]

So you have a new Dom?  Is he Jewish?
