I do not claim to know how it developed, but the left hand was deemed sinister initially, because the latin for left is sinestra (hope I spelled it correctly). As for hypnosis as a tool in BDSm, as an example I told Joe in a post on another thread, I have used the work "cuffed" as a trigger word in a post hypnotic direction. The subject's hands then become locked together, as I had previously directed while she was in the trance. Worked quite well. In one instance I had her put her hands around a post and then said the trigger word. Instant bondage!
