I did say that cargo for the red states(which includes Ak) comes through ports on the West coast, subsidising the economy around those ports, and giving your daddy a nice living. learn to read.

The vast majority of that cargo does not go or come from red states.. stating this repeatedly will not make it so.. it comes from china and goes to Europe and states with a population that exceeds an average sized city in California or New York.

What claims do you think I am making about alaska and shipping, excpet that goods from asia get sent to the west coast first(doesn't matter whether it is the port of La, longbeach, portland, seattle or bumfuck pasedena) and then re packed on a different boat (giving jobs to a person in a blue state) to be shipped up to Ak.

There ya go... it is shipped up to AK... I took that to mean you thought that AK was some sort of international shipping destination... I assure you if Alaska quit buying shit tomorrow, the Port of LA would barely notice, if at all.

mnottertail -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 3:56:39 PM)

and these goods are recieved in AK and someone unloads them, pours petrol in them, docking fees, and so on....... providing an equal amount in state........and so the whale is undoubtably one of the largest mammals alive today, but doesnt have a fucking distinction even without a difference in this context

Ah Mnot the cowardly troll.....

No alaska is not a transfer point for boat shipping. IT is very different. people in alaska pay a premium to bring boats full of goods up. California however is a transfer point. Boats come from asia and then get repacked adn sent out on other boats, trains, and trucks to points all over the USA. It is indeed a very relevant distinction. that people in other states pay to have the goods off loaded brings money to California. Your post (like most of yours) is meaningless. Just a troll making noise, and trying to derail the thread. People from other states pay a part of the cost to have them unloaded and the dockign fees in the large west coast ports.

Julia, I asked you to point out where I said that. We get that you are a very poor reader. and what you want to pretend I said is meaningless. A very realone type tactic though.

And julia the port of Seattle would notice quite a bit if AK stopped buying.

And I seriously doubt goods from China enroute to Europe get off loaded on the west coast, shipped by land across the continent, the reloaded and shipped to europe. They use the Panama canal.

Here's the thing---

16 of the 17 states that pay more than they get, all except Texas, were blue states in the 2008 election. They are the ones I can understand complaining, but they aren't.

33 states---2/3 of the states!--BENEFIT from the "big government" "tax and spend" policies, and yet they're the red states screaming against it. If they succeeded in killing it, they'd immediately have less money.

Are they just nuts? Ignorant? Just repeating what their leaders tell them to say?

They are voting against their own self-interest.

Once again, it doesnt have a fucking thing to do with whether a state is red or blue. It is highly correlated to population density because denser state tax revenues are high due to population and the presence of corporte headquarters but many allotments (eg roads, military bases) are not based on per capita standards and in fact some are intentionally geared toward low density states like military bases and research labs. New Mexico is high because of Los Alamitos for example.

Here's the problem with that assessment--the money doesn't just vanish. It goes to paychecks and local services--to people living in those states. There's a reason government spending is counted as part of GDP.

And that's why if suddenly a new research lab were opening in any county in the country, those people would celebrate--good times coming.

ETA: I think you're misunderstanding. No one is saying those states get more because they are red. Rather, a lot of red states are benefiting from more dollars received than than they pay, ironically given those are the voices that want to see less of this.

mnottertail -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 4:12:58 PM)

Uck, you pathetic sockpuppet

people in alaska pay a premium to bring boats full of goods up <<<thats you.....

I just said that fuckhead, and they pay people in alaska to unload them, to top them with petrol, to transport them horse a fuckin piece......who fucking cares, and not anything to do with anything other than the rest of us who have to pay more than we recieve giving you welfare patients a free ride in all this.

luckydawg -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 4:16:53 PM)

yet the per capita impact of a lab (or whatever) is greater in a low population state. Causing statistics like in the article you cited. California and New york get way more federal $ and contracts than Alaska or Wyoming.

mnottertail -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 4:18:31 PM)

+per capita means per capita, nothing else, it is a constant and consistent measure. do the math

luckydawg -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 4:22:16 PM)

Back to the cowardly sockpuppet thing. Still afraid to actually flesh out your accusation??

I guess your not smart enough to grasp that part of the cost of goods (from asia) in Ak is the cost of having them unloaded on the west coast and then repacked (people in blue states get paid for doing that). The money doesn't stay in Ak, it goes to Cali and Washington. Subsidising the economy in those blue states. Is that over your head?

mnottertail -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 4:32:06 PM)

and pathetic little sockpuppet, I sent cmail to your other profiles, but coward that you are you read it and didnt answer it.

Since I am not going to violate TOS for your sockpuppet ass, while you lie and pretend that you didn't get them, so who is the coward now. yawn, yawn, fucking troll.

so alaska contributes what? 5 bucks to the California economy? and that makes up for the welfare you recieve from the rest of us?

You are the coward lying and pretending like I haven't called you out.

luckydawg -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 4:44:10 PM)

I don't use any other accounts for chatting in here. So I don't know who you sent them to.

And why the cowardly lie about the TOS.

You are too much of a coward to send me a c-mail....... So you lie and pretend you sent me a c-mail.....

but I understand you are just trying to help julia out.

and apperantly we have to add "per capita" to the list of terms you don't understand. It is becoming quite a list....

So you think the economic impact of Shipping to Ak is 5$, just more ignorance on your part. No surprise there.

pahunkboy -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 4:50:00 PM)

isn't the govt a wondrous and glorious thing?

how DO they do it?

mnottertail -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 4:51:56 PM)

per capita means for each head. you lie and pretend it means something else or not at issue

luckydawg -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 5:25:26 PM)

what do you think I am pretending it means, coward?

The per capita impact of a base or lab is greater in a state with a lower population. Why you are disputing that, I have no idea (excpet for the obvious--- you being a troll)

mnottertail -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 5:33:04 PM)

so, you finally admit you are a welfare patient, sucking up at the government trough...no more than a communist, all the while lying and pretending you are a fiscal conservative or something, no wonder you need to hide behind sockpuppet profiles...yawn, yawn, go away troll.

You are a leech on us good hard working folks.

Musicmystery -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/1/2010 8:16:07 PM)

quote:

do you mean pretending that the blue areas subsidise the red areas

No. Rather, it's ironic that so many red states receiving more federal dollars than they pay oppose the very system that funnels that money into their state.

quote:

Also it is the Red areas that drive the blue states economically.

Really.

For the ignorant among us Red state/ Blue state refers to incumbant/challenger not Republican/Democrat.

Musicmystery -> RE: 33 states get more Fed tax $ than they pay in. (3/3/2010 8:47:14 AM)

Nowhere near as ridiculous as claiming transport means CA and WA are "subsidized" by AK.
