My masochism also has spiritual elements to it... anyone that has endured pain for their concept of the sacred could tell you pain endured can lead to a sort of spiritual enlightenment... just like taking peyote or mushrooms can help someone on a vision quest.

last time i took mushrooms i saw four identical clowns squeezing up through the floorboards, doing a freaky dance and staring at me with unblinking eyes and when i ran out of the house screaming i found a spider the size of the house id just left wiggling its mouth parts at me.

Posts like this make me wonder... and I find myself wondering it a lot.. here and offline in leather circles, at parties and events...

doesn't anyone have any fun anymore?  just plain fun... and good earthshattering orgasms -- brought on by whatever

and speaking of which... my darling boy is home.. I'm outta here

lally2 -> RE: BDSM: Path to Spiritual Enlightenment? (3/2/2010 2:40:34 PM)

Lorenzo19 -> RE: BDSM: Path to Spiritual Enlightenment? (3/2/2010 2:54:11 PM)

My theory is that sexuality and BDSM D/s can be a spiritual path (not the only path). That is a radical idea by and large. And could be an interesting topic.

I am both a fisherman and a musician. I have had some genuinely mystical experiences at both.

But to call them, or BDSM a "spiritual path "seems to cheapen the term.

My ex wife could come home from shopping flushed and fulfilled. Is that too a spiritual path?

These, in my opinion are activities. Nothing more, nothing less.

Jeff

Of course it can be a spiritual path.  But so can any other imaginable "path/lifestyle/cosmology/philosophy/etc," if that is what you make it.

Right. it's a no brainer. To Me and you. But to society at large and many on the boards they dont see it as so. jeffff for instance and several others. Here's your chance to do what we do on the boards.

Jeffff -> RE: BDSM: Path to Spiritual Enlightenment? (3/2/2010 3:34:29 PM)

As so many threads do, this one will break down on semantics.

If anything can be a spiritual path. Then once again, the term loses meaning for Me.

I like to kill hookers, it is My spiritual path.

Lorenzo19 -> RE: BDSM: Path to Spiritual Enlightenment? (3/2/2010 3:50:58 PM)

jeffff you are gettiing it. I think.

The topic is not to tell how many billions of paths there are to enlightenment.
It is about one path: (everybody) BDSM-D/s. Is it a valid path. Why? jefff wants to know.

jeffff what do you think about post 9 and 16?

Mercnbeth -> RE: BDSM: Path to Spiritual Enlightenment? (3/2/2010 4:12:01 PM)

some Christians, including the late Pope John Paul, enage in self-inflicted pain...they call it "mortification"...as a way to be "closer to God". this slave could see how some might interpret their choice to consent to another to inflict pain upon them in the same vein.

littlewonder -> RE: BDSM: Path to Spiritual Enlightenment? (3/2/2010 4:17:21 PM)

everything in my life is a part of my spirituality but bdsm is not my path to spirituality...living life is.

This is a topic that has come up, as you can see, more than a few times.  Some find it to be of interest...others don't.

For some, yes...for others, no.  There's no right or wrong answer and trying to force ideas on people is no different than a person knocking on my front door offering to enlighten me if I would just give them 5 minutes and take a look at the handout they're offering.

Just my [sm=2cents.gif] (or is that 4 since this is my second post on this thread)...FWIW.

Lorenzo19 -> RE: BDSM: Path to Spiritual Enlightenment? (3/2/2010 4:59:37 PM)

So far it seem most do not have any personal experiences to share, but conceed it may be possible.

some are bored. some skeptical.

I'll continue to monitor this thread in case some one has something new to say.

Ok , I read them.

This here BDSM thingy is part of who I am. I would not deny that. But I have made what some would call great sacrifices for My child.

To place wiitwd at the center of My life feels silly to me.

I reject the notion that I am special because of anyone part of who I am. I may, or may not be special, but if I am it is not because of this part of Me.

We are all a sum of our parts and I think no single activity should define us. If it does, I think I would pity that person.
