Status: offline 		At first it was that this all was a new subject to me and I wanted to learn more about what my own preferences were. I stick around now to keep learning because i find people fascinating and I like to people watch, because I get bored at times and like the entertainment, because I like adding something to help someone else when I can or just to add it and be heard, because I like many of the people who contribute and how their mind works... What keeps me coming back to the boards is most of all those moments when someone's comment makes me go hmmmm and I get that metaphorical light bulb going off in my head. My partner says my need to study things makes him feel like a lab rat sometimes - me being able to come here and browse for my fix of information takes some of the pressure off of him and I can 'study' others and what makes them tick instead of him (for once).

Status: offline 		I came here as a total BDSM newb, in the midst of a rather ugly divorce- during that fun 'it's over, but neither of us have walked out yet' time. What I found on the boards (mostly down in PRS) was a bunch of folks who liked me for who I was, didn't think I was weird or 'sick' for being submissive, and were very supportive when things finally ended with my ex. I was amazed at the number of regulars who sent their IMs and phone numbers via cmail, asking me to call or contact if I needed to talk. I was more amazed that not one of them told me to STFU no matter how much I whined (sorry about that, guys... you know who you are)

Since then, I have met lots of folks from the forums in real, and chatted to many, many others in cmail and/or on the phone. Say what you (general) want about the boards, but this place has been 'pervy friends on tap' for me. In fact, I've spent most 'family' holidays for the past year + with a wonderful, fun loving couple that I 'met' right here on the boards , and also suggested a forum member to my boss for an open position in my company. Said forum member is now my coworker, friend, and all around accomplice. 

All that said, Greedy has a point about not having TV. As much as I love some of the folks here, certain threads are a Jerry Springer wet dream waiting to happen, and you just can't look away!

You very well might not, as what you are looking for is pretty rare (IIRC), but I can say from personal experience that meeting up with folks from the boards can be a good time. That said, friends have friends

Definitely. :) I've met a few people who are very, very close, but one is Taken and the other is a Domme, so I'm not too discouraged, all in all. It may just take me another 10 years, but as long as I'm improving throughout that time it will be worth it.

It's like when you have a toothache, and you insist on poking it with your tongue. You know it makes it hurt more, but you do it anyway.

It's like picking on a scab, flexing against a sore muscle or beating your head on a brick wall.

It's like rubbing salt in an open wound, which contrary to popular belief was not a torture, when salt was real salt it was therapudic. Hurt like hell but it was good for you.

Does anyone remember mecurichrome or merthiolate ?

I think I put my finger on it (the one I cut to shreds at work the other day).

I recall that- it is laced with mercury.

The board is a large moose that has been shot - in the leg and wanders into the gymnasium to die- broadcast to the whole town via loud speaker- and live on webcam.

Status: offline 		These days, I read the boards for entertainment. Originally, I came here to learn more about D/s relationships, which I did. However, the majority of things I read are not applicable to my relationship; for that, I am very grateful.

It's also very interesting to read about other couple's dynamics. It has truly made me appreciate my relationship with Sir.
