Oh I saw it Pops,I just don't see where your anger is...are you upset you're not getting a cut of the action...we could sell citizenship like franchises?
This is the free enterprise system at its finest...and by the way the prices insure we will get only the cream of the crop [:D]

Mike, if this is such a "good" thing then why did all the European countries stop doing it?

I'm just wondering this.

If the United States is such a fucked up, greedy, un-caring, gun-toting, baby-murdering, healthcare denying, economy-crashing, corporate greed protecting, corrupt politicking, piece of shit county.... why do so many people want to be here?

It would be interesting to find out the economic demographics of those who choose to come both illegally and legally...don't you think?

It would seem from those who start the majority of the threads, that people would be leaving the US in droves!  And yet they aren't.

It might be interesting to find out the economic demographic of those leaving the country.  Hell one of our own has elected to sample the socialist health care of Italy.

The US still allows more legal immigrants than any other nation and we still have people finding loopholes to be here, not to mention jumping fences.

What is the quota for Mexicans to immigrate to the U.S. per year?

Can someone explain this to me?
Perhaps by answering these questions you might be a little closer to the answer you seek.

The point I was trying to make is, as much as certain people make the US sound like the worst, most corrupt place on earth, she is still a whole lot better than most other countries.  People don't want to think about how lucky they are to live here, unless they came from somewhere else.

I am blessed because my maternal grandfather emmigrated and was always telling the story of why he left his home and his loved ones to come here.  And he wasn't even leaving some third-world toilet of a country, he came here from Sweden.  His proudest day was the day he took his oath of citizenship.  The United States he came to love is still the same United States that I love.  Does it have its problems?  Yes.  Could it be better?  Yes.  But the United States is still a great place to live.

thompsonx -> RE: Having U.S. "anchor babies" is a business! (3/19/2010 2:19:38 PM)

So your answer is that you are not really interested in the answers to those questions.
Because they do point to the inacuracy of your post.

I don't believe you need my permission to provide the answers.  Please do.  But if you are doing so to belittle me or fuck with me, don't bother.  I know when I have overstayed my welcome.

You have not overstayed your welcome at all.  Please do not mistake my frankness for rudness.
You are the one who made several rather broad reaching statements I sugested that there were some factors that you may not have considered.  When you have tracked those factors down for yourself you will know that I have not "cooked" the data.

Jack45 -> RE: Having U.S. "anchor babies" is a business! (3/19/2010 5:08:56 PM)

The replacement of the then majority populace through the 1965 immigration law was planned. The destruction of the old America was by design. Of course the consequences are horrific. Just in terms of the environment alone it is already happening. Those who think they can sit back and enjoy a third world America and the take-over are kidding themselves, their tools will soon enough turn on them.

A Pyrrhic victory.

What exactly was the "old America"?

The ethnic makeup of this country has continuously changed throughout our history and we seem to have maintained stability.

Amalda -> RE: Having U.S. "anchor babies" is a business! (3/20/2010 8:17:05 AM)

I sympathize with your concern popeye. Specially because history has shown us that right of birth is a first step on the way of political  turnmoil. For example Mexico gave those first immigrants families in Texas in the 1840's the right to claim land and legal status for them and their families. Some years later their declared Texas Republic.

It's not a plot to undermine the US, it's human nature and human history to look for the betterment of their own.

This is SO true.

I'm a US citizen living in Australia, my father was a legal immigrant from Germany to the US and I'm a legal immigrant from the US to Australia. I have had the 'healthcare' conversation so many times - you know how it goes, Australia has healthcare and the US doesn't so Australia is superior to the US.

Australia does have Medicare and it's wonderful, but you know what it doesn't have? A bill of rights. Freedom of speech. Journalistic freedom. Australia is one of the few countries to join the ranks of Communist China by planning to install a national internet filter. Australia is trying to prosecute a website, hosted in the US, owned by a US citizen, under Australian laws that prevent offensive speech.

Yes the US does have its issues but the fundamentals of that nation are so incredible, so rarely found other places (do a bit of research on how many nations have a bill of rights and you'll see what I mean) and I think it really shows a level of privilege that Americans are able to pick holes in their country, while many people in the rest of the world are too worried about how they are going to feed their children to even pick up a newspaper.
