Status: offline 		No woman with an ounce of sense would want to use abortion as birth control it is way too much on the body to do so. Doctors wouldnt simply keep aborting fetuses in the same woman over and over so it wouldnt happen like that anyway.

I'm actually for freedom of choice, though I teach those I have been responisble for that I do not condone it for them, I discourage it and that life, in particularly innocent is precious.

That is absolutely a tricky question and I'll agree with you that there is no right answer. I think a lot of it has to do with what a man accepts to do when he finds out that there has been conception. I think that if he says that he will be there and the woman bases her decision to keep the baby in part on that, then he has committed himself.

This is going to be controversial, but it is my belief that after learning of an unplanned conception, a man should have the right to say he doesn't want a child. And if he informs the woman in time for her to make an informed decision, there should be a way for him to opt out. She then has the option of deciding to have the baby and keep it, have the baby and give it up for adoption or having an abortion. But the decision will have been informed.

I know people are going to disagree with me on that point but I won't be a hypocrite. If women have a choice, so do men. But if he says he'll be there and splits, even before the baby is born, he has child support to pay because he committed himself to this.

Oh I don't think it has a chance in hell of flying neither because our society is way too moralistic and a lot of pressure is put on people to 'do the right thing', even if that right thing isn't what's right for the people involved.

Here is how I see it. A man and a woman have sex. Let's assume both take precaution. She gets pregnant. She tells him that she is. He can say I never wanted this, I took precautions. She can then chose to do this alone or terminate. Simple. She has a choice. If she goes ahead and does it, she knows that she doing it alone.

When I was 22, my best friend got pregnant. She asked him what he wanted to do and he said he would be there for her. They had been dating a year. He left her when she was 7 months pregnant and moved to South America. Though she loves her daughter, she does say that she might have made other choices had he told her he was bailing. Her life really wasn't easy for about 7 years and she went through lots of moments of resenting her situation.

That said, I think women who try to capture men with pregnancies are vile human beings because not only are they manipulative, but they are a using a human life as a pawn.

It isn't an easy debate, that is why prevention is so important. It is also why I advocate getting to know the people you sleep with before you sleep with them and have an idea of what they would do in such situations.

Here's the first, and biggest problem with your scenario, LA... once the child is born, it is a separate person with rights of it's own. One of those rights is parental support.

That said, how would such a thing be enforced? Sounds like the woman would have a duty to tell the man within a certain time period, but that isn't always possible. He ignores her calls for 3 months and it's all good? He pretends she didn't tell him? I see a whole lot of he said/she said here. There's also the question of how to handle it if she has had multiple partners. Not sure when they can do DNA to determine who the father is, but I doubt it would be in time for her to make an informed decision.

Not a bad idea in theory, but the reality would be a nightmare.

When balanced against a mans, in the end need to submit to the decision of the woman on this,..it seems almost fair that he should have an opt out.....but,and for me this is a big but,his opt out comes with zero consequences.....The woman no matter what she would choose is going to be paying some consequences.
No in the end it took two to tango..society has not just a moral but as you pointed out a legal obligation to wherever possible or should I say whenever necessary compel those who would walk away to have to assume their legal obligations....Even if we come up short in ensuring that they live up to their moral obligations.
