Hey, I tried nice.

And yes it is a tantrum and yes you do come off as a child.

That's most likely why you keep prattling on.

Greetings Master,

sorry I'm reply to this so late, but this topic is going so fast and I didn't see your post sooner.

quote:

ORIGINAL: KenDckey

Yeah Bull I guess my biggest 2 problems are

1. Why is it my responsibility to pay for others. I worked for my healthcare.

Actually, you are pay way more now for others then you would in a system with socialized health care.
You might have started to pay for your health care at age 17, but you know as well as I do that most people under the American system of health care don't do that.
They don't get health care (or get a very minimal form of health care) when they are still young and healthy, and don't start paying into the system until they get older and start to need more frequent medical attention.

Because they don't pay when healthy, but do receive funds by the time they get ill, the overall cost of ALL people paying into the system has to be higher to cover all those who didn't started to pay into it before they got older.

In a system where a portion of your wages is reserved for health care, no matter what age or illness you have, everybody pays into the system, even if they don't need it, thus making the overall costs LESS for everybody...

In a sense, it forces people to start saving up already to pay for the costs they will/might get later in live, spreading the total amount paid on health care over the course of a lifetime, instead of having to deal with skyrocketing costs when you get sick/older and paying little or nothing at all when you are young.

I wish you well,

ishy

xBullx -> RE: Women's Rights! (3/19/2010 1:30:46 PM)

I'm not pandering to this slvmike4u fellow. He grovelled all night to the lady folk and in my opinion added very little to positive thread content. That's what I commented on, apart from his self prmoting cheap shot about Gor.

Like I said, I tried nice. He did the typical ad hominem tactic and went babbling on about Gor as if that was relevent, its obvious enough he was only trying to rally support against the "Gorean asshole".

I'm gonna second Ron, please, guys.

First, your quarrel needn't be yet another referendum on Gor. Different topic for a different day.

Second, you've both outlined your positions publicly. From here, perhaps drop it or take it to cmail?

For what it's worth, yes, mike, of late you've become an undeserving target in a few threads. I think, though, Bull came late to that party, vs. intentionally going after you. I do understand the defensive posture.

My sense is that dropping it will most quickly end it, rather than perpetuating it. But it's your call.

estah -> RE: Women's Rights! (3/19/2010 1:33:16 PM)

I have two children...one from rape and the second unplanned and due to a casual sexual encounter with his father (I knew his father before we slept together, he was a friend and dance partner)...I kept the first one as I was brought up to believe that you take responsibility for your actions...(before anyone says I was the victim, I placed myself in a situation that made the rape possible, if I had done the right thing in the first place it would not have happened...that does not make the male any less responsible for his actions). I became pregnant as my oldest was three years old, by now I was a single mother living in a foreign country living of welfare...I discovered I was pregnant and with the father of the child we came to the choice of having an abortion...he has had an almost equal voice in all choices concerning the child from day one...(almost only because the child lives with me and on small everyday things I do not call the father and ask him what to prepare for meals etc etc). The day before the abortion was to be done, I finally accepted that I could not go through with it, I had kept one child and could not go through with something that went so strongly against my principles...Adoption came onto the table as I called the father and said I could not go through with it. He as against adoption (unless it as him adopting the child), we sat down and discussed the options and it was decided I would keep the child and that the child would live with me, but that the father would support me in all ways possible (and he has been true to his word, I am lucky there). I may have carried the child, but he had as much say in what happened with the child as was humanely possible.
I never wanted children and to this day I still do not want them, but I love my children and I do the best I can be them. As much as I would love to enter into a relationship with an owner, as long as I have children there is no way  I can do this as I have the responsibility towards my children.
I am more for saying, if you did the deed, take responsbility for it...and sorry being raped is not a real reason for abortion in my eyes...I have seen so many women who have used being raped as a pity me story, that I say grow up...Most people get over it and move on with their lives. (sorry getting of topic and getting offensive)

Did someone mention "childish"
And if thats your idea of groveling....you need to educate yourself as to the meaning of the word.That are educate your "woman" because something is getting lost in the translation.
As to the word "pathetic" might I suggest looking in a mirror?
Now run along and continue with your silly little fantasy life,I do tire of toying with you and tearing apart each and every pathetic(there's that word again ,remember the miiror?)little attempt to engage me.

estah -> RE: Women's Rights! (3/19/2010 1:46:55 PM)

Greetings ishy,

The system that is used in Belgium sounds similar to the one they used here in Germany, the one thing that everyone forgets that will lead to the collaspe of this system is that the population is getting older and while  the system of paying in while you are working is a good one, we cannot forget that we are living longer, but our productivity in the work force in not increasing that much (by way of years). The demographical changes facing most European countries, and most of the western and alot of the third world, means that we are aging at a rate, and living that much longer in a way that most health systems are a path towards collaspe...The idea behind most social systems (similar to those used in Germany, Belgium and other countries) is that the current generation pays into the health care, welfare etc etc for the aging generation...the problem is that there is less and less children being born which means the social structure is being strained more and more every year...I think you get the idea.

No disrespect to your situation Verity. I think each rape case is different and to tell women who have endured such an unhappy episode, to get over it, is very harsh. What about someone who cant endure the thought of having the rapists child, surely it is her choice alone to have an abortion or not ?

Lucylastic -> RE: Women's Rights! (3/19/2010 2:01:25 PM)

Ive been pregnant seven times
every time I considered abortion for different reasons.
Every woman has her own reason, every woman has her own story. I do not believe that anyone can make a choice for her and to say you have the right to make a decision for me for my body, my life and my families life, is utter bollocks.I am so glad I am able to say "fuck you " to anyone who wants to designate when and how I have sex and the results.
Yay freedom of choice.
oh and the dick waving and chest thumping is giving me hysterics.

are you saying that in 7 cases they were unwanted/unprepared pregnancies and you considered abortion as a means of birth control????

wtf

if that is the case, and you believe

then Women's Rights be damned. As a human being, uhhh, fuck women's rights, common sense, should prevail within one's self to keep their legs shut. You are damn lucky if that is the case that you are born in this day and age, in a safe country, that doesn't remove those rights and sterilize you on the spot for being so irresponsible.

estah -> RE: Women's Rights! (3/19/2010 2:11:42 PM)

Greetings Politesub,

I do not believe it is a real reason, and I stand by that...it is however MY belief and not that of others. As to getting over being raped...I did not say get over it, I said grow up...rape will always shape a person in one way or another, but using it as a crutch or as a pity me story is just rubbish in my eyes and those doing it need to grow up...It is not easy to get over, I know that, but most people do get on with their lives without letting it rule their lives...sorry, but letting the rape control your life is just empowering the rapist further, and honestly, to hell with that.

And it is not the rapist's child...it is the child of those who bring the child up (should the woman chose to give birth) you are not a parent because you donated sperm or egg, you are a parent because you are there to comfort the child when the child has nightmares, to change the nappies after they are full, to share the joys and tears life brings. The child is only the 'child of the rapist' if you chose to label the child so. My son is my son, not the child of a rapist, my child is his own person, and a strong individual at that, not the child of a rapist.

It all comes down to choice...we chose how we see things...we chose what we say...what we do...we chose who we are.

verity

edited to correct grammar.
