Fast Reply -

Regarding parental rights and financial obligation, either parent can legally terminate their parental rights and financial obligations in a court of law. The specifics vary state by state in the U.S.

Know that your petition can still be denied. If the court or agency finds that it is not in the best interest of the child, that the parent is not aware of the long-term implications of the decision or if there is some kind of conflict of interest, the procedure will not be completed.

Asking a judge if you're able to do something is different from having the "right to choose" to do something.

ETA - those first links were grounds a state could file to terminate parental rights, not grounds an individual can file to terminate parental rights and responsibility. They're child welfare guidelines.

Level, hope you don't mind the side track here.

Good catch, Elisabella. The first links are for the state taking the initiative. From what I am reading, the laws do vary state by state so checking the laws specific to where you live is a good starting point.

What would be a conflict of interest in the above situation?

And if thine eye may cause thee to stumble, cast it out; it is better for thee one-eyed to enter into the CollarMe website, than having two eyes, to be cast to the gehenna of the fire.

Mark 9:47

It is ironic that much of the opposition to abortion is based on a "Christian" moral, while Christ is quoted as saying if you don't like part of your body, get rid of it.

That and Yahweh is so not pro-life.
