WyldHrt -> RE: Why do we get all uppity about Weight based Threads? (3/28/2010 11:28:23 PM)

It is really amusing that all of the men who love throwing around all the fat insults readily admit they need to lose a few pounds and will. Except all ya HAVEN'T done it. So obviously you are just using the "I will lose it" to justify the reasons you think you can spew the insults at others. Oh, but LL, they can lose the weight, and they will! Doesn't that count? Surely you don't think they might be using... *gasp* an excuse?? LOL! quote:
Not all people who are overweight are suffering from some self loathing. They aren't all sitting around eating bon bons everyday. They aren't sitting on their asses doing nothing either. Say it isn't so! Shame on you for contradicting blatant stereotypes! "Everyone knows" that overweight people are all miserable, eat bon bons, and sit on their asses 23 hours a day! [8|] quote:
Now if someone is going to "whine" about the phsycial shape, then yes, they should shut up and do something about it. But if there isn't any whining going on, there is no logical reason to comment, and certainly no reason to be rude. This is sort of a chicken/egg thing when it comes to fat threads. IME, it usually starts with people making baiting, nasty remarks about laziness and lack of willpower. When the targets of said nasty remarks reply, they are "whining", "making excuses", whatever. As I'm sure you've noticed, the vast majority of fat threads are started by people (usually men, sometimes chubby men) complaining about their inability to find skinny people (usually chicks) in the BDSM scene. I have yet, in over 2 years on CM, to see a fat thread started by an overweight female whining about how she can't lose weight. In the end, it is neither here nor there. Fat threads, like the planets of our universe, travel in predictable patterns. As I said pages ago, I use them as a screening technique, because this is one subject that really brings out the ugliness in people.
