Shar, my darlin...there is a difference between testing your blood sugar levels and testing for insulin resistance.
The next time you see him, ask if he has ever tested you for the latter (and then let me know? I am curious).

Weight threads are some of the bestest threads ever!

Yep - cause usually someone says something supremely ignorant and offensive, gets jumped on and spends the next 20 pages defending his/her nasty comments. Very entertaining.[:D]

It's because a good percentage of people are fat and are sensitive about it.

First, pretty much everyone thinks it's okay to tell a smoker they need to quit or an underweight (whether naturally or eating disorderly) person that they need to eat. I find it strange that telling an overweight person that they are unhealthy is so frowned upon. Look, I weighed 180 lbs at age 12 standing 5 feet 4 inches (gained 80 lbs and 3 inches in 2 years) and when one doctor finally brought it up, it was in such a way that it barely qualified as an alert. It was more "try not to gain more weight." It's made out to be an attack on the person and unless someone's being a jerk, I don't see why close friends, family and healthcare providers can't say this frankly.

There's also the attractiveness part. So many people are sensitive about not being found attractive by members of the opposite sex who are allegedly all after stick figures and body builders instead of "real" men/women. Bull. Everyone has a preference and they're entitled to it. Just as I am too tall, too big and too black for most American (and Asian as I live in Asia) men to consider a relationship with me, there are people who aren't going to consider a relationship with someone because they're too fat. There are also people who don't care and some who even want people because they're fat. I think the vast majority of men in the world (this site is not representative by virtue of the BDSM theme) want women who are shorter, smaller and more effeminate (sum total of hair length and color, skin color and texture, body shape, face shape, etc) than them. Most women want men who are taller, bigger and overall more masculine than them.

...and someone generally says something offensive simply to get a reaction. and they do. and they accomplish their goal, so tis best to ignore the trolls.

True. Blood sugar in the 80s is excellent, but it's possible that your pancreas is having to pump huge amounts of insulin to keep the blood sugar normal. If this is the case, then all sorts of crappy stuff can happen, like wearing out the pancreas and becoming diabetic, or having your health destroyed by the excess insulin, as well as being overweight from it.

If you have the big middle, fairly thin arms and legs, that's a pretty good indicator that you're insulin resistant.
