I agree with the author: these actions can be classified as terrorism. Ironically, I bet the same teabaggers, who are responsible for this vandalism, also support water-boarding, Guantanamo, and torture.

Bo Perriello confirmed that a line to a propane tank on a gas grill was cut at Bo Perriello's Charlottesville house Tuesday during the day when no one was home. When Bo Perriello returned home, he smelled gas in the house and saw the severed line.

An activist angry over Perriello's vote Sunday published what he thought was U.S. Representative Tom Perrielllo's home address on a blog if any readers wanted to "drop by" and provide a "personal touch" to their views. But the address was his brother's, Bo Perriello's home, where four children under the age of 8 live.

Tea Party activist Mike Troxel of Lynchburg, VA, decided it would be cute to post what he thought was Democratic Rep. Tom Perriello’s home address on his blog after the Congressman had the gall to vote for the health care reform bill that passed the House of Representatives Sunday night.

But Troxel got it wrong. The address was that of Perriello’s brother, not the Congressman and his actions resulted in vandalism of Bo Perriello’s home in Ivy, including a cut gas line from a propane tank along with an anonymous, threatening note. Bo Perriello is home to his 4 children, all under the age of 8.

Troxel, a 2005 graduate of Liberty University, the right-wing religious school founded by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell, admitted to Politco he posted the address and said he would not remove it, even though it was wrong. Troxel wrote:

"Just in case any of his friends and neighbors want to drop by and say hi and express their thanks regarding his vote for health care, I personally believe it’s so important for representatives to remain fully grounded and to remember exactly what it is their constituents are saying and how they are telling them to vote. Nothing quite does that like a good face-to-face chat. It has a much more personal touch to it."

Sadly, Troxel’s actions are not atypical of Tea Party shenanigans. Participants in the Tea Party-organized protest over the weekend in Washington hurled racial epithets at African-American members of Congress and shouted homophobic insults at gay Congressman Barney Frank. Others have waved threatening and derogatory signs at Tea Party gatherings.

Full story
WASHINGTON – Republicans took to the House floor Thursday to plead with those who oppose the Democratic health care overhaul to refrain from violence and threats.

Opposition to the health care bill that President Barack Obama signed into law Wednesday is "no excuse for bigotry, threats or acts of vandalism and I condemn such things in the strongest possible terms," said Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana, the House's third-ranked Republican.

"Some of our colleagues have received threatening phone calls. A brick has been thrown, a window has been smashed. This is not the right way to respond," added Rep. Joseph Pitts, R-Pa., a leading anti-abortion lawmaker.

Hell even Repubs are getting bullets through their windows, but let's keep up the partisan rhetoric and pour some more gas on the fire by blaming the Repubs or the Dems for this fucked up behavior.

Sanity -> RE: Tea Party brews terrorism | Capitol Hill Blue (3/25/2010 1:41:57 PM)

Interesting... the DNC can really use these alleged threats...

quote:

OfA fundraises off threats -

The Democrats continue to take political advantage of reports of Republican vandalism and threats, with the head of the Obama campaign organization, Mitch Stewart, referring to the incident at Tom Perriello's brother's house in a fundraising appeal.

He writes: A conservative blogger posted the home address of Congressman Tom Perriello, urging tea partiers to "drop by." Other members have had death threats. Democratic offices have been vandalized.

Please chip in $5 or more to defend health reform -- and those in Congress who fought to make it possible.

I wonder how much they've made off them so far? [:'(]

mnottertail -> RE: Tea Party brews terrorism | Capitol Hill Blue (3/25/2010 1:43:10 PM)

maybe as much as the RNC made on the fear video campaign?

MrRodgers -> RE: Tea Party brews terrorism | Capitol Hill Blue (3/25/2010 1:43:56 PM)

People don't want to know the real truth behind matters. This is exactly how the Nazis started. With insults and vandalism so far, they haven't gotten violent yet, and I don't think and hope they actually take in any real cash...yet.

As always when the time comes and it may...follow the money.

Sanity, I am just saying that the way the Republican leadership is courting the tea baggers WITH the fanatic fringe group does not say much about the party. It would make more sense to distance themselves from a group that has a tendency to advocate or imply violence against the government.

LadyEllen -> RE: Tea Party brews terrorism | Capitol Hill Blue (3/25/2010 3:03:19 PM)

Sorry, but you call this terrorism? Seriously?

This is not terrorism. This is a bunch of frenzied nutjobs engaging in criminal behaviour in protest at democracy not going their way. If the whole movement gets involved in a coordinated way to certain express ends, then that is terrorism, but from what I can see - and admittedly at a distance - its mostly just ordinary people expressing their opinion plus some whackjobs. The moment we start classifying opposition to government as terrorism is the moment we're all in the shit.

As for the Republicans - well, they are mainly a bunch of asses from my point of view, but again being an ass is perfectly permissible and a most welcome participation in democracy - and they have condemned what occurred. They are naturally going to seek succour wherever they can in opposition and the teaparty people opposing the system as I see it (rather than any particular party) are going to draw themselves into the GOP machine or find themselves drawn in regardless.

Seriously people, get a grip.

The Tea Partiers are the only sane people in this country in my not-so-humble opinion.

The record deficits and the unsustainable government expansion we're facing are a threat to national security according to Obama's own Secretary of State.

And if there are a few crazies in their midst, so what, there are a few fringe wackos in any group.

They encouraged this crowd and up until now they have said nothing against it.  As far as I'm concerned it's too little too late. The FBI will take care of it now.
There is no comparison whatsoever of Republicans being treated in such a shameful manner.

Typical socialist BULLSHIT!  The dems are 'popping chaff'....This is a desperate attempt to 'change the subject' of the beating they are taking in the polls for cramming this odious 'health care' fiasco down the throats of the American people...It ain't gonna help....  As usual they think they are so fucking much smarter than us, and this will fool the bastards..... riigghhhttt!  Already a big pot of money has been offered thru talk radio and other outlets, to the United Negro College fund if ONE SINGLE SHRED of real proof of acts of violence has been committed other than phone threats (and probably manufactered phone threats by the dems to cover their asses)....THEY CAN'T DO IT!  They are a bunch of LYING PUKES!  And this attempt to derail the anger towards democrats is like shooting BB's off the side of a battleships.... NOTHING will stop them from being thrown out on their asses in November...NOTHING!  Stick that in your lying pipe and suck on it for awhile!

Brain -> RE: Tea Party brews terrorism | Capitol Hill Blue (3/25/2010 3:28:56 PM)

This sounds like the new junior senator from Massachusetts Brown using Rachel Maddow to fund raise money for himself manufacturing a lie that she is interested in running for his Senate seat in Massachusetts.

So what was Timothy McVeigh exactly?  Were those guys an organized movement for what they did in Oklahoma?

Sorry Sanity, but Republicans have no credibility to be criticizing budget deficits. Obama had to spend money to stimulate the economy and get out of the recession in addition to all the lost revenues from the recession. As far as I'm concerned the fiscal mess is mainly because of Republican incompetence because it was Phil Gramm former Republican senator from Texas who got involved in the deregulating Wall Street.

Ditto for you too. Why don't you tell it to Timothy McVeigh? Oh that's right you can't because he was executed.

We will see how the Democrats do in the upcoming elections. If they are going to take a beating what is your problem? You should be looking forward to the future elections and happy that they are "taking a beating."  So do you plan on retaking the Senate too?
