Mods, wouldn't it just be easier to remove the ability to post images and such in the forums and clearly outlaw animated gifs as avatars? It hasn't really enhanced the forum experience all that much. It is handy to be able to upload a pic to illustrate a post but if it's going to be abused and people are going to stomp their feet and demand their rights in this fashion is it really worth it?

I have to say that I'm agreeing with most of this, though this isn't the one and only occasion that it's caused a stir.  (Not meaning the OP specifically.  Other folks have crossed the line in other ways.)

The particular of animated gifs are causing a disruption.  To date, while some of them have been cute, I've yet to find any that were in any way adding to the discussion.  I don't see this as censorship.

What I do find concerning is the uploading of pictures of other people who are not members of this site, or have not specifically expressed their consent to having their picture displayed on this site.  Some of these have been removed by the mods on the determination of age.  Others, of adults, have been permitted to remain.  I don't think this is a good policy.  If the standard of a pic on a profile must be one of yourself or that you have taken yourself, the same courtesy should be extended to the forum portion of CM.

For a long time, we weren't allowed to post any pics here. The only reason I ever heard was that it slowed the forum down. If that's accurate, and pics (not just gifs) were banned again, then fine, I'd rather have a well-functioning site than post pics, but I'd miss them.

Commenting on pics on the forum in general, Level.  Shouldn't pictures of other people have one standard or none at all?  We have members here (which is their right) who don't want their face on a BDSM site.  Don't other people get that same consideration here when they aren't a member?
