Why anyone would drink those things is beyond me, but each their own.  You can get much better energy drinks at any sports shop, especially bike shops.  Things like cytomax have a much better kick to them and are a lot smoother on the body.  They just don't have that cool factor that you get from hanging out with a red bull.

Any of the sugar free ones..Venom being the best (like the grape taste) I had trouble sleeping and when I drink one to two of these before 6pm I sleep like a baby.

I can't help but wonder... what is it about a so-called advanced, first-world country that has so many fatigued inhabitants needing frequent "lifts?"

My local sandwich bar has just started selling a new energy drink, no ones heard of it before, yet it must be good, because it's four times the price of any other energy drink???

Vitamin B specifically is good for energy and for your heart as well, among other benefits.

Seems I read (or may have saw on tv) once that an energy drink called "5 hour [something or other, I can't remember the end of it" was one with a lesser amount of undesirable effects.  But again, I don't take them, so I don't much read up on them.

It's 5-hour energy.

The best I've ever tried.  Mostly B-vitamins, no sugar, and a small amount of caffeine.

It's a great hangover cure too.

The ancient Andeans valued the alkaloids found in the coca plant, people everywhere enjoy a little bit of an energy boost. So your bizarre assault on Western Civilization over this is just nuts, there no other way to say it.

Its a fucking energy drink, get a grip...

Including the tip, a lot of espresso drinks are easily over five dollars, and they don't have vitamins or taurine or ginseng in them. So if for a buck and a half or two dollars I can get milk thistle and all that other good stuff that makes my mind hum happily for two days, really thats no too bad a deal, considering.

Why is it that millions feel a need for a lift every day? I can certainly understand a triathlon or other high-performance athletes seeking to replace depleted water, electrolites, minerals, vitamins, etc. But the average joe?

Most of us in the US are not working hard-labor jobs anymore. So what's the problem? I walk through a mall, and see dozens of young people with energy drinks.

For the average person, energy drinks treat a symptom. Seems to me that we should be decades beyond treating symptoms by now, and that the explosion of energy drinks is yet another example of an unthinking host being exploited by the parasites.

So you can call me nuts if it makes you feel better, but I could just as easily say that your thinking is confined to a small, indoctrinated box.

it's wacked how many 20 somethings i work with drink 4-5 energy drinks a day...it's like doing some sort of liquid 8 ball. I expect to see one of these boys(they are usually the men) just keel over while working...it cannot be good for you.

5 hr energy is the best...no crash but if i really need a kick in the ass, i do the sugar free rockstar coffee drinks....sugar makes me fat. nothing tastes as good as thin feels...been living so long on a sugar low, I can't stand sugar drinks anymore. next to 5 hour energy, V-8 is the bomb diggity for waking your tired ass up. The shit is amazing and there is no crash. i'd rather be tired than wired than crash

I stay away from energy drinks because they give me just enough energy for riding the porcelain pony more times than any one person should in a day.

I'm just sayin'...

I don't drink alcohol.  Used to binge on coffee but nowadays I've gone down to one cup of joe a day.  This is good since I work in a coffee shop, haha.

Full Throttle is the best tasting one, although, I haven't seen them as available as they used to be.  Red Bull is the most convenient one since it's mostly available in all clubs/bars.  I've never tried it but supposedly the 5 Hours energy drink one is good if you jitter from Red Bulls and all that.  Monsters are too sweet, Rockstars tastes funny, and any no brand name drinks aren't worth the money.

I use absinthe as an energy drink.
It's remarkably effective with a little sugar.
But you do tend towards the monstrous after the fourth glass.

Monster or good old-fashioned black coffee.
I almost drink enough coffee to be an alcoholic.

I can fall asleep needing to pee and stay asleep with the most depserate need to pee, but it's a lighter quality sleep and eventually I WILL get up. Course maybe that's different than driving and falling asleep hehe.

I once tried an energy drink on a long drive. It worked brilliantly - there is no way you can fall asleep at the wheel when youre dying for a pee.

Intrude away! From your link:

The researchers found healthy adults who drank two cans of a popular energy drink a day had above normal blood pressure and heart rate.

I'm flabbergasted...

Say it aint so!

Hmm, pardon my late intrusion here but aren't energy drinks generally bad for the organism?

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/88066.php

There are quite a few studies that have shown correlations between heart disease and the consumption of energy drinks (plus increasing the risk of cancer).

A really good "natural" way to get more energy is to drink mate (tea) or take guarana and kola nuts in powder form mixed with water or juice. The last two taste rather aweful lol and the tea well you either love or hate it.

They can find a correlation between passing gas in Russia and the Rings of Saturn if they look hard enough.

Maybe in some cases it's how cool they think they look, or how great it tastes to them, more than needing the pick up.

32 teaspoons of sugar in a 20 oz soda. Which by itself explains the upsurge in diabetis in this country.

The Man prefers 5 Hour Energy drink for long drives. But as we haven't found that in a sugar free, he's going to need a substitute.
