I'd like to help but my floods are on every night anyways.

Tonight might be a good night to test all of those holiday light strands. Don't even need to unwind and hang em, just pull em out plug em in and let em lay in the yard.

What a great festive event.

That doesn't sound very festive or celebratory.... I like Popeye's idea better. Maybe I can get a rental on one of those big spots they use for movie premieres.

Master Thadius,

Personally, I like your Christmas light idea better, much more festive than a big spot. I used to have a neighbor who left his outdoor Christmas lights on year round....lit up most of the street, making it safe for women to walk there even late at night.

In the country? Nice, clear, star-lit night?

I'll pass on the light displays, thanks.

Thadius,

A couple of houses out this way have "gingerbread house" type lights lining their edges year round. On a dark night, these are nice, useful landmarks.

Thad, lolol, yeah!
Hey, I know where there's about 8,000 old tires in the woods a few miles from here!

I think he was leaning more towards using them as fuel, as to not burden the already taxed power grid. Very eco-friendly way to handle it if you ask me... oh wait I forgot about that nasty smell and smoke.

See, here I thought you guys were serious about cutting costs....

We could build a clinic out of 'em! For peanuts!

It would even be energy efficient, winter and summer!

You could use the savings to buy fireworks.

The savings you talk about would only apply if I had planned on building a clinic. I do like the idea of fireworks though, as a matter of fact I had been looking at some 26.5MM flares a couple of weeks back.

Peanuts are heavily subsidized in this country. Of course they need a clinic.

There's a development behind me, a gated community with many older people in it, I call it "Buick Land" lots of flagposts in front yards with the American flag flying and below it, "Marines", "Navy", "Air Force", "Army", and a few "Coast Guard" flags and many unit flags, "101 st Airbourne" "Seabees" etc.
I'm sure they'll be participating tonight!

Actually there was a plan, but it ran into a snag, the transport of them. I have however found another place to get them, although not in time for tonight's celebration.

Then again I may just sit back and enjoy the natural lights on this spring night, weather permitting.

I have no illusions that anyone here in El Paso is going to even KNOW they're supposed to turn off their lights, let alone care. But the amateur astronomer in me gets a thrill thinking about being able to see the Milky Way for an hour...the sky is cloudless. sigh

I must remember to remain grateful for all I have---which includes seeing the Milky Way daily.
