I don't know about anybody else - but I plan on recovering from a major hangover as my birthday is on the 20th!

Yes mine is on the 20th as well. Not sure about a hangover as not up to drinking much these days.

LaTigresse -> RE: 2012 (3/29/2010 8:36:26 AM)

I am 'deeply spiritual' but I find the concern over the date ridiculous.

It's definitely not on my list of things to worry about......not at all.

mnottertail -> RE: 2012 (3/29/2010 8:38:09 AM)

I'm gonna be looking for an all day blowjob, just in case on that day, because that is how I want to remember this old world, when I enter eternity.

Don't forget to pick up a new Mayan calendar first.

At least they last a long time!

cpK69 -> RE: 2012 (3/29/2010 9:06:28 AM)

I found the listed time of sunrise, in consideration of date, to be interesting; 12/21/12, 11:11. To me, it implies a ratio of two wholes. Add to that, the apparent interest of past cultures in relation to that date, and scientific findings, it would seem possible that it will be a time for significant change. However, I can’t say I know it means anything.

My own beliefs, not to be confused with religion, or being religious, indicate we are in order for an ‘awakening of truth’. Of course, that is reliant on the accuracy of my belief, and my interpretation of what I see, relating to that belief.

12/21/12, 11:11 is as good a time as any for that to happen; however, my source, at present, gives no indication as to a time of occurrence.

How is that different than any other day?

Are you asking the pesach haggedah?

well, for one thing, it would be the first day of winter.

Wouldn't that be grand if the "awakening of truth" happens the day after I am run over by a beer truck.

Wouldn't that just be the end all beat all of mothahfuckers?

Ron is just finishing up on the fourteenth hour of his blow jobathon when he experiences his "awakening of truth." It is revealed that he has always been a homo.

Who would want to live in that kind of a world? Why is God so cruel?

Is this a complaint? It seems as though, if you do not wish to know truth, then it would be a 'win' situation for you.

If you are refering to a world where truth can be known? I would.

What part of it gives you the impression God is cruel?

2012!!???

The movie SUCKED, even in BluRay!!!!

Hope the reality is more entertaining. We're 975 feet above the South Bay and a nice 800-850 foot tsunami would be spectacular to see from the front balcony. We're planning a HUGE party and, in the Mayan tradition, will be serving slaves captured from other tribes, roasted over a pit in standard 'long pig' style. We got the recipe left over from Mel Gibson's wrap party for the movie 'Apocalypto'.

thornhappy -> RE: 2012 (3/29/2010 7:04:54 PM)

We've known about poles shifting for decades. There's just no way to time it.

It's stranger than fiction how Americans get so obsessed with apocalypse.

All it means is that the long count starts over.

That's exactly what my thought was too, until I learned of the 'I CHING'  along with a few other ancient cultures. (obviously I watched the History channel longer than I should have today) lol

I don't think it is the end of the world, but I do think that all of these things from thousands of years ago are not mere coincidence. The notion of the poles shifting, even if not a dramatic shift, can certainly cause alot of destruction.

Thank you to all who posted so far. I am very interested in what others have to think.

GoFigure -> RE: 2012 (3/29/2010 8:05:13 PM)

I guess I wasn't the only one watching "the Nostradamus Effect" yesterday.

I think it's an interesting enough phenomenon to do a little research on, maybe get into a drunken argument with a friend over but at the end of the day I'm not expecting 2012 to be any different from any other year.

Now as for 2013....

The whole notion that "ancient cultures saw the end of the world coming" is simply a modern invention, based upon fear, freedom of information, and the interpretation of such by those that like to get people all worked up and scared about things. i think most of the folks selling 2012 end of the world theories are also the ones selling books, disaster kits, and tin foil hats.

Man, I just bought like 20 tin foil hats for $20.99 each. Are you telling me they don't work? [&:]

Ummm, I know I'm making an ass of myself by asking but... I don't get the sunrise thing. How does the sun rise at 11:11? I mean, where will the sun be rising when it's 11:11 and where will that be the time? 'Cause I have to admit, the date and time are kind of fascinating. It must be a geography thing. I was doin' other stuff during geography! What is it, like the first time the sun rises over Antarctica or somethin'?

*sighs*
And I actually went to college for four years. My mother should get a refund![8|]

LadyEllen -> RE: 2012 (3/30/2010 4:37:26 AM)

Always an interesting question that - what time is it at the south and north poles? This is where the timelines we use converge, so it must be everytime or no time. From that, if anything bad is to happen in 2012, the poles are the place to be, since it wont be any year and at the same time every year there.

*smiles* I don't think it is a silly question.

If I’m not mistaken 11:11 refers to Greenwich Time.

Something I do not understand about it; why is the sunrise noted for Greenwich Time, when the International Date Line is about half a world away? Maybe I’m missing something.

Kim
