Seriously? If you're a Christian, you are rather naive if you imagine a Zombie Jesus thread has anything to do with Christianity. I don't feel sorry for Christians who are offended by this thread. You shouldn't have read it.

Have you been drinking your bath water ?

Thread is posted on Easter

Zombie Jesus Day is urban slang for Easter.... Google it.

Picture is a degradation of Jesus.

Naww... has nothing to do with Christianity... not a thing.    [sm=ofcourse.gif]

You are on a bdsm site on Easter? How would the J-dude feel about that? Seems that if you really cared
you would be out trying to gather fresh brains for the king of kings.

I lost 70 pounds on the Crucifixion Diet.

Made a believer out of me.

Yes, I am Domi. And I drank and smoked dope on Easter Sunday. Me, God and JC are just fine with that.

I'm not really concerned about this thread, but for the poster I quoted to say it isn't about Christianity ?

I'm preparing my Ramadan and Yom Kippur mockery threads. I wanna see which Holiday Bashing threads gets more pages.[:D]

Wow. First i see the mockery. Freedom of speach. Yep. Also my freedom to expression my opinion of said speach.

Then i read that religion should be banned. So much for freedom of speach or seperation of church and state.

Now i see how, if im offended, i shouldnt have read this thread. Wow. Im being told what i can read and what i cant. Censorship.

I have stated earlier that it was the OP's right to post what was posted. Just as its my right to object. I have no issue pointing out its been those who object to religion that have been the ones to attempt to stomp all over my rights on this thread.

I have the right to read what is posted. And i will exert my rights and read regardless of the inane headings that may be used.

I have the right to post my opinion on any subject matter, as long as i stick within the TOS of this site. I will continue to enjoy that right as well.

I have the right to practice whatever religion i desire, regardless of how many object Again, another practice i will continue to enjoy.

What i have no seen is the so called attempt to convert any of you into a belief system on these boards.

Maybe i missed it... someone hook me up with a link, please.

rule

1) I have never forced any beliefs on anyone.

2) I have yet to see a thread started in favor of religion.

3) Two wrongs dont make a right. Belittling someone for their beliefs, then stating... dont force yours on me... pot calling the kettle black.

4) Easter has long since lost its religious meaning, at least in the US. Its not like Christmas, commercialized to the point of pain, its icons being more about a bunny and eggs than a figure of a man.

The whole concept of these Christian holidays is forcing your beliefs on others.

It really doesn't bother me except when the conversation turns to how we are a Christian nation, with Christian values and it intrudes into how this country is governed.

tazzygirl -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day (4/4/2010 8:36:45 PM)

I havent seen any of that on this thread. Have you?

I'm talking about the whole concept, the whole idea of faith.

I can't tell you how many times I have had to bite my tongue when someone makes remarks that assume everyone listening agrees with their faith.

tazzygirl -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day (4/4/2010 8:49:10 PM)

For myself, if i were to make such an assumption, i would appreciate being told i am in error, in a polite manner. Oddly enough, i have that conversation with a woman i worked with. She kept leaving religious material in break areas, ect. Another employee voiced a concern, so i took it to the woman, explained the concern, and asked her politely to remember that not everyone believes as she does. She proceeded to explain how i was going to fry in hell. I said "that may be true, but, for now, im going to ask the cook to fry some eggs. Lets get to work!"

I could have gone the route here by calling her a religious fantatic, belittling her for her beliefs, ect. All i would have gained was her anger, injuring her pride in her religion and her beliefs. I would have gained nothing. Sort of whats happening here.

rulemylife -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day (4/4/2010 9:03:50 PM)

I don't think anyone is trying to injure pride in one's beliefs, but you see it on a one-sided level.

You are not looking at how the other side feels.

Wow. Some interesting images on this thread. Who knew there was so much zombie iconography?

Fortunately, my own image of this Easter Day is a much happier one, that of the crowd that gathered this morning at All Souls Unitarian Church here in D.C. There were, to borrow from the Book of Common Prayer, "all sorts and conditions" of people: adorable kids, lesbian couples, African-American grandes dames, earnest young hetero pairs, gay men of a certain age, slightly worn looking folks just back from building houses in New Orleans, people limping along with the help of a cane, and so on and so forth. I found myself remembering a favorite line from Dickens: "In they all came, one after another; some shyly, some boldly, some gracefully, some awkwardly, some pulling, some pushing; in they all came any how and every how."

And what did they come for? The music, the ritual, the community. The chance to explore (with, being Unitarians, more questions than answers) the possibility that life may be more than material, that there may be deeper realities worth pondering and enduring values worth cultivating. And, on this Easter Day, joy in and hope for renewal, in whatever form that takes.

Seeing all these diverse folks come together to celebrate and hope and touch one another's lives was, for me at least, a powerful image that I shall cherish long after I've forgotten the zombie pictures.

Happy Easter to you all.

Peace,

DC

I'm so glad to call you my friend, DC.  You are wonderful.

Rich, I'm going to give you some time to think about whether this was really what you meant before I begin making fun of you.

I'll give you hint - just because we can say something, should we?

Tell you what, Brainia, I'll give you a little time to utilize the search feature this board offers to go looking for my oft-stated positions on free speech (I'm a real pain in the ass on the subject). We are all free to draw our determinations about the OP of this thread, as we are free to draw conclusions about how anybody chooses to use such a rare and precious thing.

I'm pretty sure that where I think the edges are, is way outside your comfort zone.

I'm not questioning your convictions regarding free speech. I am simply asking whether you believe there are some things better left unsaid?

For the record, I personally don't have a problem with the OP. This is typical of the nincompoonery that I have come to expect from a site where people casually discuss all the nasty and disgusting things they do with their orifices and appendages, but I can empathize with those who might be offended by the OP. For me, this is not an issue of free speech, but one of tact.

Actually, it isn't.

If any group chooses to observe a holiday that you don't believe in, no one is forcing you to do anything.  Are you saying that no group should celebrate something they believe in, just because you don't?

For the record, Easter isn't a federal holiday.

belladevine -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day (4/4/2010 11:49:14 PM)

Easter is a holiday that represents just how pathetic ewe faithful people can be.

I want to know exactly what kind of sick minds think it is good to celebrate in a dimly lit building, pretending to drink blood and eat human flesh.

I want to know exactly why those same uneducated sick minds think that a man could rise from the dead and survive for another 2000 years.

I believe Jesus is dead and ewe are the zombies. Why won't ewe people let him rest in PEACE???? Because ewe love holy war.

Religion is an insult to intelligent minds and peace loving people.

tazzygirl -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day (4/5/2010 1:51:29 AM)

are you saying religious people cannot be peace loving and intelligent?

belladevine -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day (4/5/2010 1:54:33 AM)

I guess religious people can be what ever they want....but first they must believe. That's what they say anyway!

It is a shame that religious people choose to be stupid war mongers.

tazzygirl -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day (4/5/2010 1:56:47 AM)

I see. Now they are stupid war mongers... some who have never held a gun.

bella, you are making a whole lot of assumptions based upon your pre-conceived notions and obvious hatred of a group of people you do not know.

perhaps you should rethink your response.

belladevine -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day (4/5/2010 2:05:08 AM)

Haven't you even ever read the HOLY BIBLE. That book has seen soooo many wars.

How can you presume to find any truth in a book that has been shot full of holes.

Religious people are too stupid to read new information. They read the samy holey book over and over and over.

The purpose of a history lesson is to learn something from it.

HELLO>>>>RELIGION PROMOTES WAR. Our country is curently involved in a holy war. IN GOD WE TRUST?????
HAHAHAHAHA We the GOD TRUSTING NATION kills anybody that gets in our religios way.

tazzygirl -> RE: Happy Zombie Jesus Day (4/5/2010 2:11:26 AM)

Read history, darlin. There were so many wars waged in the past.. some over religion.. some not. Amazing how that works. Also remember, just because someone declares something "holy" does not "make" it so.

I declare my bagel holy. Is it? Of course not. Many declared wars in the name of religon. In the same manner, that doesnt mean those wars were religious.

Perhaps you need to learn why those words were placed in the US currency. Talk about someone needing a history lesson.
