slvemike4u -> Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 5:26:24 PM)

The New York Yankees begin their defence of last years championship season tonight in venerated Fenway Park against their hated rivals the Boston Red Sox....baseball is back,health care reform has been passed.....all is good in America!
Go Yankees......

I don't follow professional baseball--I'm a Cubs fan.  Our 162 game long punch in the stomach begins in Atlanta tomorrow.

My father grew up a Brooklyn Dodgers fan, so I was raised to hate the Yankees.  But I spent enough time in/around Boston to have developed an affectionate sense of loathing for the Sawx, too.  I would pay a fair amount of money to see Steinbrenner the Younger give Theo Wunderkind a swirly.

Whoo hoo! lol

Jeffff -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 5:39:16 PM)

Go Yankees?... rooting for the Yankees is like rooting for the lions over the Christians at the Colosseum.

My beloved White Sox Shall triumph this year

BKSir -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 5:42:08 PM)

Jeff......  I can no longer like you.  Cheering for the Yanks... that's nearly forgivable.  But the White Sox!? O.O  You sir, are a heretic and blasphemer!

Level -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 5:42:26 PM)

I'm totally not expecting anything good to happen to the Astros this year. Lance Berkman is already on the DL.

slvemike4u -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 5:43:43 PM)

So whats wrong with rooting for the lions.....as long as we aren't talking about the Detroit Lions .
Listen Baseball loves when the yankees are winners.....after all there are two types of baseball fan....those that love the Yankees....and everyone else!

Edited because I am not as proficiant at multi-tasking as I thought....lol.

A good day is a Cubs victory followed by a Sox and a Yankee loss.

Will be at Yakzies at 6:00 am on 4-12 Monday morning. Got a crew of over a dozen showing up.

It will not be pretty.

Jeffff -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 6:06:09 PM)

Where?
Certainly you are not sugessting they have the talent to gain the privilege of losing to the Yankees in October.

Jeffff -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 6:18:14 PM)

Mike, in tis town, if you don't like the Cubs, you root for two teams. The White Sox (winners of the 2005 World Series), or the Cards (2006)

Btw, Cubs last won the World Series in...1908......:)

slvemike4u -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 6:20:20 PM)

Care to guess how many we have won in that period......let me make it easy for you ...28 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeffff -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 6:23:51 PM)

It's the Yankees. no one really cares

slvemike4u -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 6:38:15 PM)

Bullshit everbody cares...as I said earlier they either celebrate that number...or they gnash their teeth at the mere mention of all of those flags.....lol.

The one thing that Cubs and Sox fans can agree upon.

slvemike4u -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 6:43:30 PM)

LOL, so very very true.  That, and there's only one city on earth to get a real hot dog... and it sure as hell isn't New York. ;)

slvemike4u -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 6:47:06 PM)

Are you saying one can't get a hot dog in New York ?.......home of Nathans?

domiguy -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 7:04:55 PM)

Home of Nathans? You mean this?.....NATH | Nathan's Famous, Inc. | Common Stock .....$ 15.41/share.

The good folks in Chicago would never dream of getting our hotdogs from the same corporation that peddles Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips and Miami Subs Pizza and Grill.

Nathans Hotdogs....

"Last year there were over 360 million Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs sold! Today, Nathan’s is sold and enjoyed in all 50 States and sold at over 20,000 food service and retail outlets."

It's really quite sad. I would rather go to McDonalds.
