We're not talking about Jonnieboy here.  Although, he is one majorly sexy pirate. [:D]

UniqueRaven -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/4/2010 9:53:30 PM)

Gyros and crack are definitely the way to go these days. Out all night drinking on Times Square? Gyros, and crack, are the way to go. And baseball.......yeeeeaaaah. Hee hee!!

i will never forget being in Manhattan watching the game in a posh Carnegie cigar bar the night the Sox beat the Yankees for the pennant. Crazy. Walking home after the game with the snow on the street, hearing "The curse is over!!" and "The Sox won!!!" yelled out random windows all over the place. A memory of a lifetime.

Aww come on... any team can have a bad century.

The Cubs' Curse will end in 2012... the same year hell freezes over, when the earth's axis shifts in December... giving rise to the end of the world as we know it.

A Cubs' World Series victory is the sign.

The new Yankee Stadium sucks.

I've seen Thurman Munson naked.

You were an alter boy?

Go Yankees......

That's one way to look at it.

But I prefer a more realistic viewpoint:

Baseball - the world's most boring sport (with the possible exceptions of golf and tiddly-winks) is one again cloggin up the airwaves and a multi-billion dollar boondoggle masquerading as a health care bill has been passed.  All is not good in America. [:'(]

Oh well... at lease I still have good weed, a gal pal with a spankable ass, and lots of leftover easter candy.  [:)]

Jeffff -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/5/2010 7:14:24 AM)

Baseball is beautiful.

Each game defines itself. There is no time limit. The defense has the ball. In a 162 game schedule there is plenty of time for ups and downs for any team.

Baseball is boring.  People sit around drinking beer (becasue what else is there to do?) watching a couple of guys play catch.  Finally, after nineteen hours, the batter swings and the whole crowd goes crazy.  The guy missed - it's a strike - but the crowd goes crazy anyway because they finally saw something happen on the field.

Real sports have risk, they have the potential for life altering injuries.  What's the worse that can happen in baseball?  A leg cramp?  Perhaps a mild concussion?

George Carlin summed it up best.

You are one sick puppy. You are also greatly misinformed.

switch2please -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/5/2010 8:19:20 AM)

Awww, come on, I like baseball!
I go to Coors field pretty regularly during the summer, not because I like the Rockies particularly but because I like the game. I get the cheapo tix and stand by the bullpen, and I refuse to pay $8 for a hot dog.
The Giants look good again this year, and Lincecum is the shit. I'm not going to say I like them though, because my teams usually lose... [:(]

Of course I am one sick puppy - would I be a Collarme regular if I wasn't?  Besides, this is sports we're talking about.  Watching people risk debilitating injury is part of the fun.  Do you really think NASCAR fans go out of their way just to watch cars drive around in circles?  As for being greatly misinformed, I suspect that I am greatly misinformed about most things (who isn't?) but I am not misinformed about baseball - it's boring.

Oh, I forgot to mention soccer.  That's boring too.  That's why the Europeans are always rioting during soccer matches - it's the only way to bring a little excitement to the game.

White Sox. 6-0 over the Indians.

They are on their way to 162 and 0!

auditguy -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/5/2010 5:20:04 PM)

Please the White Sox don't even know how to spell 162-0.  Now the Mets on the other hand, that club can really do some damage.

Go Mets!!!

servantforuse -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/5/2010 6:56:37 PM)

I would rather go to a Packer game, but I like the Milwaukee Brewers as a close 2nd. They lost 5 to 3 in their opener today.

kallisto -> RE: Opening Day.... (4/5/2010 7:22:48 PM)

Opening day for the Braves - it was a bad day for the Cubs.    [:)]
