That anyone who doesn't live in a "24/7" D/s relationship or have some sort of ever present "dynamic" isn't "real"; for I have at times committed the unspeakable heresy of addressing kinky man by his first name while *gasp* looking him in the eye. Sometimes he does the most undomly like things such as asking me questions about topics I hapen to know a wee bit more about.

forsaken555 -> RE: Stereotypes you hate? (4/21/2010 5:27:03 PM)

Definitely the doormat thingy, because end of the day, it's still a game, it ain't real slavery, it's consensual slavery surrounded in safe parameters.

The slut thing, depends on the kink, I get turn on by verbal humiliation, so slut works for me, but I do hate it if someone who isn't my owner uses it, because he has no right, he does not own me, and as long as he does not own me, we are on equal grounds, I do not see him as my superior, if he calls me slut, I'm gonna have to call that dom bitch.

I never met any dom who expects a slave or sub to like pain.

But alot of them think just because they are dom, they have the right to immediately call you names, and not respect you as a person, now that is just plain juvenile, and makes me think they are little boys disguised as big men. Not really respectable dom-like quality at all.

The stereotype of "A sub/slave should have no limits" is totally unrealistic
and has no place in this world as anyone who draws breath on this
planet has limitations of one kind or another be they mental or physical.

RCdc -> RE: Stereotypes you hate? (4/23/2010 3:26:11 PM)

The stereotype that anyone without limitations is unrealistic.[8|]

My own stupid opinion:
Show me a no-limits slave and I show you a baby crying back to mama when the reality hits.
and if they are no-limits they need physiological help.

Stereotypes that suggest that people who practise wiitwd are void of empathy and often have to resort to name calling and general nastiness mixed with ridicule ON PURPOSE to get their point across.

*Big sigh*

Oh sorry, that's not just a stereotype, my error.  That really exists.[&o]

That "doormats" are mindless robots or unhealthy in some way.
That being a "doormat" must mean boring.
That those who enjoy someone that compliant must be looking for the easy way out.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Stereotypes you hate? (4/23/2010 4:58:40 PM)

I hate the "s-types have no business calling a spade a spade" nonsense.

Hey there Icarus,
Now that one really gave me pause. In my definition, doormats are kind of Stepford wife-y. That would get blase fairly quickly I would think. And in my mind it is someone who completely represses who she truly is and "Yes, Sir's" her way through life without allowing her own thoughts to bubble to the surface.

Clearly you have a different definition than mine. Would you mind sharing it?

Best,
sunshine

Hello sunshinemiss,

It's really pretty simple for me.
All of these things below may swing to the extreme from different perspectives.

Someone who is extremely compliant.
Someone that has grace in her submission.
She's highly intelligent with opinions but doesn't feel the need to press them.(That's where the grace comes in)

She finds her pleasure giving service to those around her and may go above and beyond what the average person may to be of help. Someone who takes pride in selflessness.

She lacks the me me me bone.

Every single one I've ever met has stood out as beacons of humanity..at least from my perspective.

There are negatives as there are with any type of person and personality. I won't go into this. I think it's been done and it's obvious we have a few self-labeled doormats that are wonderful people. Living proof that it's true even if people aren't willing to accept it.

Some are in good situations and some aren't..but doesn't that happen to us all? Yes of course.

Blase? On the contrary: I enjoy power exchange and I'm greedy. I want everything a woman has to offer and she has to be willing to offer it all. Why would I take anything less than the best of what someone is or can be.

If not..That becomes blase.

The ones already mentioned are my pet peeves, and I'll add a new one: "You are submissive so you must submit to anyone who is Dominant." Yeah, right. So despite the fact that I'm happily owned, I'm supposed to submit to some jackass on the internet that I've never met simply because he's Dominant and I'm submissive???? Makes me mad just typing it.

To add to that, because i am submissive and live in Las Vegas, i must somehow be available to every Tom, "dick" and Harry who is coming to Vegas for a week. Grrrrrrr.

hardbodysub -> RE: Stereotypes you hate? (4/23/2010 6:53:56 PM)

Stereotypes you hate?

I hate the stereo types that people play so loud in their car that it makes your car shake. To top it off, what they're playing usually sucks, too. [:'(]

Yup, Carol'd be a "doormat" by most people's definitions... well, people who were into casting pejoratives about like that anyway. And I pretty much agree with Icarys. As Icarys alluded to, had Carol ended up with someone who didn't love her as I do, those doormatish qualities might well have turned out poorly for her. Happily, she chose wisely and so instead they become a blessing to our marriage.

Carol does not "repress who she truly is". Who she "truly is" is a highly malleable person very focused on pleasing me.

What about Jeff though? Are you available for for me if I come out to Vegas? If not, I'm cancelling my tickets and and drowning my sorrow in a bowl of french vanilla ice cream.

sublizzie -> RE: Stereotypes you hate? (4/23/2010 7:57:48 PM)

I hate that people think I'm looking for "playmates" or wanting to have sex all the time. I like sex and I find "playing" a good way to show submission to someone but I'm into so much more submission than just those things.

Ghorrrbeh -> RE: Stereotypes you hate? (4/23/2010 9:36:34 PM)

i agree with most of the above mentioned...my biggest one is....Years ago when i was young and dumb i was in a very abusive relationship....When it comes out about that, i get "If that happened to you then "Why" are you in this way of life now".....

Because i learned over the years that abuse is just that abuse and this way of life is not based on that in any way shape of form....

Granted not everyone says that but i have gotten it more often than not....

Anything that puts "a 'fantasy expectation" on my thoughts or behavior.

myotherself -> RE: Stereotypes you hate? (4/24/2010 1:18:37 AM)

~FR~

Because I identify as a 'sub' I must really mean 'slave'

All subs/slaves are fine with being 'lent out' to other Dom/mes for play/sex/service

Masochists want play ALL of the time and can't go through a partner-free phase without any play at all

Any female who advertises on a site like this is open to sex with ANYONE, particularly sex of the NSA variety

sunshinemiss -> RE: Stereotypes you hate? (4/24/2010 1:48:15 AM)

Hello Icarys and Jeff,

Thank you for your answers. What a way to look at things! This topic has been brought up with a number of submissive women. We've talked about being afraid that the men would be bored if we were too compliant. Those very words have come out of my mouth a time or two in fact. There is a fear when we get really vulnerable, all that openness and then we become boring. Funny, isn't it? I've heard people say it, but seeing it in words is different somehow. And now, the thing you all are saying is attractive is such a ... well almost dangerous thing for the other side of things as Jeff, you pointed out with this:

quote:

had Carol ended up with someone who didn't love her as I do, those doormatish qualities might well have turned out poorly for her

And that may be the crux of things.

Now - to stereotypes - ... I don't like the stereotype that smart people are "know it alls".

Best,
sunshine

*wee typo

jbcurious -> RE: Stereotypes you hate? (4/24/2010 2:08:00 AM)

The one that bothers me the most is that subs are submissive to everyone.

I have been told by some that I am very service oriented with slave like traits to "are you sure you're on the right side of the equation?"

It's about what that particuler person brings out in me.
