You wrote earlier that you killed this thread... a little premature to go boasting, was it?

Something that the non-Tea Party doesn't understand is that where the budget cuts are made is beside the point because the bottom line is that we cannot keep spending like this. We don't have the money! Yeah, there are more checks but eventually this kite is going to have to come down.

China is warning us, the secretary of state is warning us, as Thadius pointed out the president has even warned us - but there are no cuts planned, only more outrageous spending.

Some might argue - and it would be interesting to get Brainiac's view on this - that the reason the US was pulled out of depression by WWII and went on to prosper for some decades after, was because in supplying the British Empire (and othre allies) with materiel the US acquired the wealth of the British Empire, which was left near bankrupted by the whole experience.

That scenario - basically of selling into a ready market with customers who can and do pay, is entirely different from the current situation where the supposed wealth to support necessary spending is derived from borrowing.

Yet I don't hear any conservatives calling for cuts to military spending.

Apart from the restaurant sign which is actually a sign from a really sweet chap not wanting to serve  spanish speaking citizens if I remember correctly, so no not a teaparty sign. But a sign... for sure

Correct. In WW II we were building roads and factories and making things and selling things, we were mining and working and producing. All we're doing now is borrowing money from China and buying (as popeye would say "cheap plastic junk" from them with it. Where are all the new nuclear power plants? Where are the refineries? Where are all the permanent jobs in the private sector?

With all the trillions that are being wasted we're only getting more bureaucracies that will continue to waste ever increasing sums of money for generations to come. And maybe a few cheap wind farms that will be defunct and unprofitable to maintain within twenty years time, and maybe an unprofitable automobile manufacturer or two.

As far as I can tell the whole teabagger movement is based on anger and insults.

It's not just that the OP started with, or contained, an insult; it's that the entire thread was an insult. There was no point to any of it except to try to demean, with doctored "evidence", an entire American movement.

BTW, have you seen the Gallup profile of the "racist" Tea Party movement? 40% Dem/Indy, 75% white (vs. 79% for America as a whole), broad/normal age, income, education parameters. A nice wide cross-section of America, which the Dems are desperate to disparage.

It's just what they do, especially when they're afraid.
