That has been answered already. The reason that exact wording doesn't appear, is because not even the Constitution defines it. The SCOTUS has, when referring to the meaning of the term, relied on English common law for the definition, and modified accordingly.


The Constitution doesn't define "natural born citizen" for the same reasons it doesn't define "history", or "article" or any of a thousand other words or terms. It isn't a dictionary, and it uses words and phrases as properly understood at the time.

As far as I know SCOTUS has never used the term "natural born citizen". Vattels defintion stands.

If I am wrong please give me the cases. I have seen/read/skimmed many cases concerning mere citizenship; none on point.

It is inadmissable to argue that "citizen" and "natural born citizen" mean the same thing.

If by your third sentence you mean we must refer to English common law for the defintion of "natural born citizen" (and I'm not sure you do; I've my doubts in general about that sentence) then Obama is in trouble. That definition has four parts, as discussed above, as included in The Law of Nations

I would expect nothing more from you Lucy.

But the website shows, and you show that my point is valid. This is how the left operates. Free speech? Legitimate debate? You, they can't stand it.

There is no way leftists can win without cheating, and this speaks to the heart of that issue.

But as I've noted before, you see the world through left/right glasses, and buying into that arbitrary and inaccurate paradigm prevents any real observation, fostering only blind adherence to a contradictory ideology.
