What is you favorite wine to drink?[:)]

Well let me add my two cents before I forget what wine tasted like.  I have always liked a spicy dry red. White wines are too blah for me.

Ecco Domani -Merlot is pretty good for its price range.  I also like the Frank Coppola Claret.  Most Italian wines, my favorites are the Montepulciano region.

But its been a good 6 months since I've had any.  So who knows.

Should I host a wine tasting?

windchymes -> RE: Wine (4/5/2006 1:13:39 PM)

LKP79 -> RE: Wine (4/6/2006 12:50:43 PM)

Gewurztraminer is my wine of choice. i've never been one for red wine at all.

Ice wine is pretty damn good too!

windchymes -> RE: Wine (4/6/2006 1:39:15 PM)

I'll bring a bottle of the Ohio wine, and some trail bologna.  Only you Ohio people know what that is.

Oh mead is awesome! i have a friend that brews a bunch of mead, she's always got several different batches going. She sent me a bottle of what she calls "Yule Mead" a little while ago. It's got cherry juice, nutmeg, cran-apple juice, cinnamon, cloves, and a bunch of other stuff and it is to DIE for!

Mmmm..........

bschwimmer -> RE: Wine (4/14/2006 8:33:31 AM)

puella -> RE: Wine (6/8/2006 2:48:55 PM)

It really depends on what I am eating with it, though I do not stringently impose the Red with this and White with that rule... When it is super hot and sticky out I like a nice crisp Pinot Grigio, otherwise I usally drink red... Chianti classico being my favorite, closely followed by a peppery Pinot Noir

Evanesce -> RE: Wine (6/8/2006 6:10:10 PM)

I prefer sweet wines.  Pink Catawba or Velvet Red from St James Winery; or Red Raspberry from Montelle - both wineries in Missouri.

If I want a drier wine, I'll go with a nice White Zinfandel.

OedipusRexIt -> RE: Wine (6/8/2006 6:54:59 PM)

Although I don't drink but a glass every two or three week, a nice Gamay Beaujolais.

zumala -> RE: Wine (6/8/2006 9:40:21 PM)

I am still trying new wines occasionally.  As of right now, I have not yet developed a taste for red wines.  I prefer white, wet, and sweet.  I can drink Chardonnay, but it's a little on the dry side.  I like ice wines and rieslings, but typically drink a little white zinfandel at home.

Fuck, how did I miss this thread?  I love wine.

I'm not a fan of wine that's too dry or too aggressive (so Merlot is not really my favorite), but otherwise there's not much I don't like.  Oh, very sticky whites are annoying too.  But I can enjoy pretty much anything from a sweet $4 Riesling to an aged $100 Madeira.

MistressLorelei -> RE: Wine (6/8/2006 9:51:52 PM)

A really good pinot noir goes with everything.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Wine (6/8/2006 9:54:04 PM)

Those can get pricy.
