Thats what you said. You didnt give your belief, or lack of, you talked about other people and what they did or did not believe in. Its not the same thing.

Yeah, I too understood the question as asking what is your faith perspective (slash) spiritual perspective (slash) secular perspective -- not what is your perspective on other people's faith, spirituality, or secularism. But, I suppose that's open to interpretation. The most striking thing to me about some of the responses has been their utterly egotistical disregard for the feelings of others. And on that score, I have to say I think Steel would far from the top of the list.

Isn't it being very human? Using the vision and imagination that are as much a part of our make up as any quest for close observation/empiricism etc.

again...where's the proof of this...all anyone has is the written words of an ancient book that, so far, has not provided on shred of tangible proof. They are simply that...just words.

What constitutes proof?

I seriously doubt that anyone's personal spiritual perspective comes only from words written in books.  Each person has their own experiences and their own perspectives.

Even evolution could be called words written in books.  There is no tangible proof that links each evolutionary change in each species.  It seems logical and I accept it based on that logic.  But Darwin's Theory remains theory.  There certainly isn't any direct evidence against it.  But tangible proof?  The Big Bang?  Where's the tangible proof?  Every Discovery Channel documentary on the study of the universe is filled with words like "there is evidence to suggest" and "it is believed that" and "scientists theorize"  but there is no tangible proof of a lot of things.

You may want to look up the words faith and spiritual.  Neither words deal with tangible objects.

No assumptions whatsoever. it is a continual battle between you and servant 4use to see who is the most miserable fuck on the site.....Does it escape you that no one pays any attention to you but to admonish your behavior? I have never seen anyone joke around with you or even attempt to feign that they are happy to see you.

Everyone thinks you are kind of pathetic. You should try and be more happy.

maybe we could start a thread instead of "ask an anteater" it could be, "Ask subrob..."

What a great amount of yucks and high jinks would come out of that fucker!!!...lol.

Yeah.I could be an ass clown like you, but really, what's the point? I don't feel the need or desire (unlike you) to be liked on a internet message board, in fact, I really couldn't care less what you, or mike, or anyone thinks of my opinions.

Again, you keep saying I'm miserable, but in reality, you're wrong, again, as usual. You're the joke with the angry dead guy avatar, who thinks he's the comic relief on the message board, but we all know you're really the pathetic unloved fuck around here.

They're not laughing with you, they're laughing AT you.

Now would you care to comment on the subject of this thread, or are you going to continue being a Troll?

subrob! i am happy to see you! I have a wonderful joke just for you! Thanks DG for the reminder.

Here goes:
One day Mom was cleaning junior's room and in the closet she found a bondage S+M magazine. This was highly upsetting for her.
She hid the magazine until his father got home and showed it to him.
He looked at it and handed it back to her without a word.
She finally asked him, " Well what should we do about this?"
Dad looked at her and said, "Well I don't think you should spank him."

yuk yuk yuk!

oh yes and so i don't get spanked for derailment... i'm a spiritual person, that takes what makes sense and creates her own religion

Rob,
Kindly do not make sweeping statements about "all" the people on the boards. Your opinion certainly does not mirror my own or the expressed opinions of others.

Thank you.

Just where did I make a sweeping statement?

Perhaps you should address the topic being discussed instead of hijacking the thread.

Hello Rob,

You did right here:

but we all know you're really the pathetic unloved fuck around here.

And to quote a succinct fellow.... me thinks thou doth protest too much...

As to the OP:

One of my particular faith / spiritual / secular perspectives is a statement I have used on a number of occasions. It would seem to fit here...

My religion is simple. My religion is kindness.

Maybe you could take your own advice?
It would be great if everyone could remember to keep on topic instead of attacking each other.

I can see both sides that argument, frankly. You wouldn't have said that a lot of religious art and architecture (and literature, come to that: there's nothing wrong with The Divine Comedy* or The Screwtape Letters) shows a surfeit of vision and imagination, then?

*(Dante's trilogy, not the shitty band who did the incidental music for Father Ted)

It's closer to self-serving definitions.

Not everyone should be allowed to play with language.

Yeah...perhaps....I suppose you could argue that vision and imagination is best used in the arts and the here and now. Possibly didn't phrase my post particularly well......let's say....humans tend to look for a wider meaning outside of personal experience (and observation).

That statement is true, at least for those whose search hasn't been shutdown by faith.

Not true either--they just believe they've found where to look.

It's difficult to know where to look. When we are dreaming, we believe the world of the dream is real. When we wake up and get ready for work and hurry off, we believe that world is real. And sometimes, we then suddenly wake up in bed... late for work! Perhaps the only thing of which we can be absolutely certain is that we are experiencing beings.
