I really don't care if a president bows in order to be courteous and respectful but I would like a president and a political party that has the courage to increase taxes on the wealthy in order to balance the budget.

They said in the interview we face a candor gap; too few politicians are making the difficult choices to ensure American prosperity in the future.

It was nice to hear somebody tell the truth about what needs to be done to straighten out the economic mess.

The Fallout from the Financial Crisis April 8, 2010
Jim conducts a one-on-one interview with Robert Samuelson regarding the financial crisis and what Samuelson calls a "massive candor gap" from U.S. politicians on the consequences of continuing huge federal spending and running enormous deficits. If there is no honest accounting today, draconian tax increases and spending cuts will be needed in the future, affecting the quality of life our children will lead.

We need to cut down on offshore tax havens to begin with.

And then go through the civil service and really examine what government does for all of the money they suck up out of the american business that supports us all.

That's where the problem really lies-they just like to misdirect us to protect thier cushy jobs.

Slavehandsome -> RE: The Fallout from the Financial Crisis April 8, 2010 (4/13/2010 7:02:04 PM)

Rather than cutting down on tax havens, how about we cut down the tax?

tazzygirl -> RE: The Fallout from the Financial Crisis April 8, 2010 (4/13/2010 8:17:58 PM)

Spoken like someone who has no clue. Cutting down on tax havens would bring in more money. Cutting taxes would.... ahhh... lightbulb finally coming on?

servantforuse -> RE: The Fallout from the Financial Crisis April 8, 2010 (4/13/2010 8:22:07 PM)

The IRS could take every penny from the top 10% of wage earners in this country and it wouldn't make a dent in this deficit. When you take every penny from the rich, then where do you go ??

Not that I am advocating that silly "take every penny" plan....but I would just like to clarify something.....Are you rich?...I will assume the answer to that is "No"....so my next question, and it is aked because I figure the rich can take care of themselves,......Why do spend so much time championing their cause?
Do you see the rich in this country as somehow being beleagured ?
I have to confess...the sight of a working man championing the cause of poor opressed rich people....is a big fucking joke!

servantforuse -> RE: The Fallout from the Financial Crisis April 8, 2010 (4/13/2010 8:33:45 PM)

I am not rich. I just don't understand why those that are should give every penny they make to the government. When that does happen, and we are getting closer, there will be no incentive to suceed in life.

That is the biggest single lie told...by rich people.
Tell you what the minute it comes to pass that people actually stop aspiring to be rich.....I will vote for that piece of shit, banrupt(of ideas) Republican party again.

Just the opposite. The top tax bracket was once 90%. For years now, it's been 35%.

Capital gains taxes have also been cut, again, for years now.

slvemike4u -> RE: The Fallout from the Financial Crisis April 8, 2010 (4/13/2010 8:52:09 PM)

And yet the lie persists...and why?...because rich bastards have convinced working men like Servant that they will have nothing to look forward to.....should they ever win Power Ball.[:)]

Every penny, servant? You could tax the top 10% in this country at 90% and they would still have enough money to buy and sell you 100 times over.

Rather than cutting down on tax havens, how about we cut down the tax?

Rather than listening to you, how about we prosecute big-time tax offenders and eliminate taxes for anyone making under 35,000?

That would probably wind up costing the rich more money in the long run...and could quite possibly get more than a few of them thrown in jail [:)]

Termyn8or -> RE: The Fallout from the Financial Crisis April 8, 2010 (4/13/2010 9:17:51 PM)

Or how about this ?

THEY STOP SPENDING OUR MONEY.

They never do any fucking good. Now they can't even afford to clean up the mess.

How about some real argument against what I just typed ? MAKE MY DAY.

T

slvemike4u -> RE: The Fallout from the Financial Crisis April 8, 2010 (4/13/2010 9:26:23 PM)

You want an argument....I will give you one.
If they don't SPEND our money....what other use does OUR money have ?
In other words what other purpose does money serve ?

For once this is a case where the deterrent argument actually works... for that very reason, it's never used.

am I getting trolled?
