The GOP is a one-trick pony. They have no new ideas and reject anything Obama proposes, even if it was one of the GOP's ideas to begin with. They oppose everything, yet they come up with nothing new and different. It's Reaganomics, 80s economic policies in a 21st century economy. They only offer the same old sht in a different millennium. The reason tax revenue is down 25% is because Obama, in his desire to destroy America has caused 171% of ALL small business to fail. It's true, look it up!

How about a new concept. Tax less and then go for less regulations. Maybe, just maybe businesses will start to hire again..Until that happens, the unemployment rate will remain near 10 %..

It is never a good idea to raise taxes in a recession. On another note, wait a week or so until the new regulations from the EPA start for small remodleing companies around the country. Your home will become a toxic waste dump just to put new windows in..That should really help small business..

Actually, that's how we got here. By the third recession, in 2007, there was no more room to buy our way out with monetary policy, and the house of cards fell. Maybe, just maybe, people will start to look at structural deficits.

Tax cuts create jobs and ensure the survival of established businesses. It also makes it easier for new businesses to survive. Without tax relief during tough times like this, you are looking at a complete economic collapse since small businesses create most of the jobs in this country. Christmas was terrible this year, and I don't think many retailers are going to be able to hang on till next Christmas. The real problem is congressional spending. Even the CBO said it wouldn't matter whether you raise or lower taxes, if you don't cut spending first. Therefore, since congress has shown no willingness to cut spending, we might as well keep the taxes low. If you give them more money they will just spend more. Anyone can see that. Liberals really love taxes, and since they know people won't vote for them if they raise taxes, they have now resorted to backdoor taxes hoping people won't figure out these are taxes on businesses, corporations, financial institutions, and energy companies that will eventually be passed on to you the consumer. I've got another idea too. Why don't these states who joined the law suit against the federal health care legislation just order their people not to file any federal taxes. That would straighten Washington up real fast.

States are not in the habit of inciting their citizenry to violate laws (since they are organized by law themselves). Uh, does the date 'The/Civil/War' ring a bell for you mr constitution? Each state is a sovereign state. They joined the union voluntarily with the expectation that the federal government would abide by the Constitution. They haven't. Therefore, since the original agreement was not honored, each state has the right to secede as well. If they were going by the Constitution, number one, the border would be secure since the constitution specifically requires them to protect us from invasion in four different areas. So when you say it would be against the law, I say where is the law and the constitution when they completely ignore it at their discretion? The census is another example. Since they are counting illegal aliens they are using the census to provide representation to people who don't even have a right to be on American soil. The liberals also have a huge network of lawyers and activist judges attempting to circumvent the constitution any way they can. Even Bush seemed to think the constitution was nothing but a ___ ___ piece of paper. Number two, Just about the only taxes they would need to collect for would be the military, and basic government expenses in Washington. Oh I guess we could allow social security, nasa, and the centers for disease control just to keep everyone happy, but we wouldn't be $10 trillion in debt, if everything else was returned to the states as the 10th amendment calls for.

I find it very revealing that you quote a convicted felon, the mastermind of Watergate no less. Oh, and BTW, tax cuts for superrich individuals don't benefit businesses. Nor do they create jobs or help retailers - retailers are hurting because average Americans see their incomes drop. You are right about Presidential Congressional spending. Since most of the spending is military, that's not going to change, though. So let's forget about the borrow-and-spend approach and get real. Tax cuts aren't affordable.
