ORIGINAL: TheHeretic I've seen this play out before, Mike. The Dems will hate him again soon enough. Co-opt or destroy. Yes, Rich, you are probably correct. But this Brown guy is one sharp cookie and one hell of a politician. He knows who got him elected - moderate Independents. He will face opposition from both Democrats and Republicans, just like Obama, because he is a centrist. There is no getting around that in a deeply divided two party system. Brown understands that his future lies not in appealing to the left or the right, but remaining popular with mainstream America. He was smart not to affiliate himself with the Tea Party as he understands that this movement is seeking to pull the Republicans further right and the rest of the country simply will not follow. He is a fiscal conservative and social liberal, exactly what he needs to be. He is not the only Republican getting that message. Anyone notice in the news today that Charlie Christ has announced that he will be leaving the Republican Party and running as an Independent?
