As a Massachuseets resident, I feel your post puts things in exactly the right perspective. Well put. Scott Brown is doing what he promised to do. While my own political views generally lean to the right, I'm not far off of center but definitely to the right side of it. My views differ depending on the issue. Extreme right in some things, a bit off to the left of center in others. I support the Tea Party movement, but I have to say I was pleased that Brown did not bail out of Washington for a photo-op at the big TP event in Boston Tuesday. On the other hand I do think his views (...as he stated them...) are to the right which gives me great hope but he is above all else focused on doing his job. He will vote based on his views AND I believe, the views of the people who put him in office. Yet in the end I think he will vote what he feels is best for America. I stated in another post that people were tired of politicians on both sides of the fence. If anything, Scott Brown's performance in even this short span of time should make "party-oriented" politicians pretty uncomfortable. He is showing that people in political office CAN deliver the sort of performance brainiac notes in her post and that raises the bar for those on both the extreme left and extreme right of the ledger. MC quote:
ORIGINAL: brainiacsub Scott Brown campaigned as a moderate and has acted as a moderate since being elected. He said he wasn't going to play partisan politics and he hasn't. He said he'd work to break the gridlock in Washington and he has. He said he'd reach across party lines to do the right thing and he does. When someone is a centrist, the difference between Republican and Democrat is nuance. The partisan Republicans and talking heads were idiots when they said Brown's election meant the country was rejecting Obama and moving to the right. The Independents who elected Obama are the same ones who elected Brown. It demonstrates once again that the majority in this country are moderate pragmatists.
